Volk wasn't forced to take it.. by the performance he did in the first fight it was guaranteed that a rematch is necessary, but volk was too prideful to think reasonably.. also islam literally said to volk don't bring up the fact that you took the fight on short notice as an excuse after you lose. And finally Volk lost in the first round by a head kick KO, no amount of training would have prevented him from getting KOed that night.. Now if islam koed him in the fourth/fifth round, that's another story and you could say the short notice played a part.

Those hammer fists were more brutal than the kick itself. Felt like an execution.

best? yes. Most Complete? No. His striking is surprisingly good but let's not forget that he's a grappler through and through. Shavkat is the most complete fighter currently imo. He can stand and bang with strikers like Goeff Neal and Wonderboy, he can wrestle, he's the best in the clinch and he has great submissions/jiu jitsu.

Funny how that works - be it full-camp Islam vs short-notice Arman, short-notice Hooker, short-notice Green, or short-notice Volk... you don't want reference made to the fact Islam has perfect conditions and his opponents have the worst. @jamesthompson9003 , Arman had 2 weeks, Dan had 30 days. Both had nothing to lose, Turner on short notice KOed Green. Masvidal with 6 days notice went the distance with Usman, then got KOed by Usman when Masvidal had full camp. Nate on 11 days short notice finished Conor then lose a decision to Conor when Nate had the full camp. This Volk fight, Dan and Green fights was 1 round only, cardio wasn't needed so no need for full camp. Makhachev didn't prepare for Arman as well, it goes both ways, short notice is disadvantage as well, thats why Jones refused to fight Chael Sonnen when Sonnen was on short notice.

Islam stand up is so tight ,fast and accurate.Its crazy considering he is known to literally have the best grappling in this division and its not even close.He is a complete fighter and its undeniable.

Tbh, after seeing the first fight and the pre fight build up of this 2nd fight. Volk's team especially craig jones was very disrespectful towards Islam and combat sambo. And honestly, seeing this head kick knockout was the most satisfying moment after observing all that hate.

@mceyeampyousay-rl9yj , Volk's coach said 24 hours was advantage for them since Volk can cut to 145 lbs, fighting at 155 lbs with 24 hours isn't an equal disadvantage compared to Makhachev's disadvantage. Also Volk had a huge cut on his left eye at the end of the first fight as well, doctors gave 14 days time off to Makhachev while 30 days time off to Volk.

I honestly completely disagreed with everyone saying it was a bad idea for Volk to take this on short notice, coz I thought he couldn't lose even if he lost, and Islam couldn't win even if he won. In public perception. But Islam found the one way to beat Volk where it was almost impossible to discredit Islam's win. Just clean KO the dude within a couple minutes before we can start blaming conditioning etc. Seems pretty obvious by now that Islam is the best in the sport currently.
