Congrats to Jorge for chasing his dream and going from backyard fights to being the maincard on ppv fights and selling out madison square garden and competing for the title twice in two weight divisions. He over came set backs, losses, but kept grinding and never gave up on his dream and entertained us and ended his career as a star. Getting older sucks. Your body just can't do or respond the way you want it too and used to. You feel yourself slowly declining and you can't pvercome it. A bigger thing with aging and maturing, is how you fundamentally see the world and what you think is important and want changes. Becoming a champion, winning a title, the fame and money that comes with it seems like the most important thing in life and that when you achieve or win it, you'll be complete and happier, your value as a human being will increase and you'll be worthy. And honestly, when your in your teens, in your twenties, early thirties.....it feels amazing and you find that it does those things for you...but when you get older, in your mid thirties and up....idk why but you change as a person When you get older, around that window....suddenly those things don't seem as important or special, you don't desire or want them like a younger man, they no longer appear shiny or important and no longer bring you the fulfillment. You can't get as excited or desperate for them. Then you realize that you are competing in a game...playing a game....a silly game....a game, something children do for fun. In Jorge's case, competing and trying to win the title no longer looked like it used to....instead he realized he was going inside a giant dog cage to fight another man with rules in front of drunk screaming dudes in basically only boxer briefs for what? To win a metal belt eventually? What will that do? MMA isn't like a real fight, Jorge has fought 50 pro fights, trained 20 plus years, as a martial artist what does he gain from competing??? The entire thing eventually as you age seems bizarre and silly. He is no longer the pitbull in the box looking fight to please his owner and the crowd watching so that he can feel important and loved. So i get what he means by it no longers feels the same to fight. Besides your body not being the same and you know you are declining, you know longer have that youthful excitement and desire for the title....instead it feels more boring and weird and no longer want to do it.
Great effort out their tonight Jorge. You put it all on the line and even though you weren't victorious tonight, you are victorious in life. You did what 99% of people couldn't do in your situation from your upbringing. From fighting in backyards for $100 to fighting in front of thousands for millions. You're an inspiration bro. Anyone that hates on you doesn't truly understand or respect the grind and suffering it takes to be truly successful. Thank you.

Man's still the BMF. Thanks for giving us some of the greatest energy, and badass fights. Win or lose. You're a legend. Let's smoke a blunt.👊
Thanks for everything Jorge ❤
Not a huge fan because we would never get along with our personalities but I have to write something to honor his legendary career. How someone can fight for 20 years professionally and still be able to walk, is literally beyond my understanding. Thanks for all the memories and I wish you great health and luck to new adventures!

That was about as good as an ending we could have hoped for. Dude does not move the same anymore unfortunately, reflexes were way off. Awesome career, and a legend in the sport.

Que recuerdos viendo las peleas de Kimbo, luego Strike Force y la última era. Lástima que no pudo campeonar el UFC.
Thanks for 20 years of bangers Jorge, haven’t always rooted for you but I’ve enjoyed your fights win or lose every time, enjoy retirement mate ❤️
Good job, Masvidal. Such an inspiring career. I remember being 15 yo sitting in the ruins of my home due to the blitz, 7 month after WW2 ended, watching him fight. I’m 35 now, never forgotten that moment.

It’s not just age when you been doing soemtjjng for 20 years you often lose the love for it the motivation etc u need change to keep you going . Money isn’t a motivator when you already have it. & sometimes it’s just time to do the family life . He didn’t wanna be in there it was obvious . He was done before it started . If he got lucky then that would have motivated him. ✌️

My favorite fighter just retired, what do I do now? Oh yeah my other favorite fighter just got his belt back. You 2 made the sweetest game cover though, hands down the most badass. Some GTA shit!
I watched that ,kimbo bg fight during 2011 and was instantly super impressed by the og masvidal. I was always excited for his fights. Glad he made it through to become a multimillionaire coming from the streets. Love you JORGE, you had a great career ❤
I started off a fan of Masvidal in elite XC. Stopped rocking with him when he would lose fights due to inactivity and being hesitant. (Ben Henderson fight) Reinvented himself became a superstar. I've been here through it all the ups and downs of his career. Never stopped paying attention. Started off the journey with love for him. May have lost love in the middle of the journey but, ended the journey with the most amount of love I've ever had for him. Long live the king of street Fighting. Took it to it's highest level. Very much inspired by his career.
