It's not JUST stamina though, it's the ability to make your opponent work twice as hard as you. It's what Colby, Usman and Khabib have done to incredible effectiveness. You see those guys can get tired, but they force their opponents to carry their weight, make them guess, etc.

Such a powerful performance of Merab. Merab made great job. Congrats for a great man who deserves recognition.

This is why I love MMA ! i saw merab fight a few years back on an undercard and his post fight interview made me want to keep following him. He talked about how he was working construction just a few weeks prior but that he no longer needs to because of the team he’s found and the wins he’s been having. It’s crZy to see someone go from being happy to be able to do this full time to seeing them on the cusp of a championship opportunity. 135 truly is the most stacked division.. I’d finally say it passed lightweight

Such an impressive performance. When I was watching this it reminded me so much of when Usman and Colby were running through contenders and former champions up to the title. Their pace with the wrestling and striking was absurd. And Merab seems to have followed that blueprint to perhaps an even more intense pace. For people not getting it, think about this: Petr Yan has only lost 4 times being 3 controversial split decisions, and a DQ where he was dominant. In this fight he lost 50-45 unanimously. Merab is different

Petr Yan boxing is why he lost these fights to merab and aljo, they understood he keeps his hands A LOT HIGH when defending, then they spam + feint + shoot and always works, Yan got confused and stopped reacting in all fights, they literally "broke" yans game.

Thats a very reasonable explanation. Petr yan is extremely good if you give him the space and the reads. You push a pace then this is the outlook. This fight confirmed to me that sadly petr yan will never be champion again. And this is coming from a die hard petr yan fan.

He's been figured out. Yan hasn't changed anything in his game for the past few years. When you're in a division as stacked as Bantamweight, with everyone in the top 10 being elite you gotta improve and get better or you'll get figured out and lose, no matter how good you are.

He didn't give Petr any time to think and adjust what he usually does so well. Every fighter ever wants that endurance and cardio, nobody would ever say no.
