@francmittelo6731 when a fighter fails to be able to defend themselves is when ref is supposed to stop. They don't have to be out cold. Those kinds of stops prevent fighters from getting career ending injuries.

Izzy vs Pereira will always be one of the greatest fights I've seen, the buildup and history, to the actual nail-biting fight, knowing Alex is possessed with 1 punch knockout power and izzy's careful and coordinated strikes and plays, this and their rematch is top tier

In actuality he WON the belt in against Petr Yan in their second match. Defended against out of prime, one armed TJ who couldn't beat woman's straw weight fighter that night, defended against Cejudo on his return after a long lay-off but still the match was very close. Omalley would've been his first real defense.
