When in reality all it takes is one bad day, one bad night sleep and you can't perform at 100%. One "sounds confident" and the one making excuses IS confident. @@crazecrook If Amanda was dominate she would have finished Pena in the first round when she had the opportunity but Pena grappled her way out of danger and destroyed Amanda with her jab in the 2nd round. I always thought Amanda's stamina was suspect an knew to beat her one had to be tough to weather the early storm and get the fight to the ground but what surprised me about this fight is I didn't think there was any female fighter in the world that could stand toe to toe and slug it out with Amanda and come away with a W an that's what Pena did, while she choked her out on the ground at the last, Amanda was already gassed and beat before that, she basically beat Amanda at her own game.

Honestly this is a very compelling fight

That wasn't the Amanda that we've seen in the cage in the past. Her hands were low, she didn't move her head off the center line, no lateral movement, no foot work, no alternate modes of attack like her usual low kicks, which would have slowed down Pena's forward movement. For everyone saying that Pena can take her punches, do note that Nunes never managed to land the power punches she's known for, she barely even threw a power punch, so we can't possibly know if Pena can take the type of punches that knocked Cyborg out. Her knee being injured makes sense now because her punches did not have the same power as in the past. So it was clear something was hindering her power but even aside from that she was just a stationary target and plodding zombie in there, it's clear she didn't really train.

Nunes better make sure her cardio and head movement are both on point, as well as she's free from any injury, or else Peña's obviously gonna beat/submit her again

I think people (including Pena)are discounting the fact that fighters can have off nights, they’re not robots that come in 100% every time. Nunes never looked that bad in any other recent fight, and I find it hard to believe it’s because Pena is better overall judging by their records. It’s much more likely Nunes just didn’t show up physically and mentally that night, we will see a different fight in the rematch.

She quit because she didn't want to face Pena's stand up game for several more rounds. The only chance Nunes has is to keep it on the ground. You just can't train yourself to take a punch in the face. Either you have it or you don't. I think Pena is even more angry than last time as her victory is being disregarded as fluke because Amanda was having an off night. I think Pena will win in 2 rounds just like last time.

Amanda definitely doesn't want to get that fight to the ground, her greatest strength is she's a powerful accurate striker, for Amanda to win she's gotta stay on her two feet avoid walking right into Penas jab and swarm her with heymakers to end it as quickly as possible. That fight goes to the ground Amanda is toast she'll get tired fast and end up getting choked out again.

The only reason Nunes gassed out is because she was on the ground 3.5 minutes in round 1. Grappling tires her out. Check her vs Valentina 1. She only lost the striking because she thought fire vs fire 🔥 she would KO Peña with 1 of her shots.

She doesn't want to go toe to toe with Pena because she doesn't have the willpower to take all of those shots to the face. Pena walks right into them because she knows that is what it takes to win. Just look at Pena's face after the fight. It was hamburger compared to Nunes whose face was almost untouched. I mean, it probably was. Like Rose beating Zhang the first time. Sure Rose won the second as well but not by a lucky head kick in round 1. Much different outcome both fights and Zhang made way more mistakes the second time, all it could have taken was for her to make one less mistake. Rose went on to lose to Carla because she made the same mistakes as Zhang and didn't do enough. Seems to be an issue with IQ of these fighters, they have the skill but...
