But since you probably are a nice guy when you are away from you computer, i will try to help you: Bruce Lee was a great guy. But calling him the father of MMA is wrong. And Dana White is not the person known of talking the truth. Check out what the Gracies did during the same periode as Bruce Lee was doing this thing in the USA.

The rest of the shit doesn't work in mma, Shoulder rolling doesn't work, turning side on doesn't work. Gauging distance with your foot like that doesn't work as MMA is from such a longer range.. Rashad was very respectful and was obviously taking everything he was saying into consideration, even if some of the philosophies of boxing doesn't work too well in MMA: shoulder rolls, side-on-side stances offer open leg kicks and takedowns, etc. But other stuff from boxing is very transferable like the set-up/load-up for the punch and eliminating it, etc.

  • @hellboyjv3

    Korean Rambo Shoulder rolls and side stance work perfectly in MMA, you need good footwork so you can avoid leg kicks and take downs, it's not that hard to sprawl if you're in side stance and rolling is important to reduce impact of punches to you and it sets up for a power counter.

  • @KoreanRambo

    @KoreanRambo

    >you need good footwork so you can avoid leg kicks and take downs I used to argue that too, but leg kicks are going to be unavoidable at a point, whether it be set up by punches, feints, etc. >it's not that hard to sprawl if you're in side stance Takedown defense isn't only sprawls. >rolling is important to reduce impact of punches to you It also takes focus off of your legs for takedowns/leg kicks.

    Jackrabbit I think you're looking at it in a black and white view, you don't need to check leg kicks to eliminate them from your opponents arsenal, leg retraction and distance management are adequate replacements, the shoulder roll defo works its just hard to apply, and it's a small skill to spend so much time on, I mean mayweather doesn't use it as much as people think, it's a small part in his arsenal, as for the takedowns, again you're side on so in and out movement makes distance control easier, if you're smart if they shoot, they shall only really have a single leg open, which you can plan around/prepare for. Not saying side on stance is THE stance for mma, just some good for thought

    I like he how just went straight into training Rashad with no conversation or setup to training. I haven't been a boxing fan since Mike Tyson stopped boxing but when Bernard talks you listen. If I was to train with anyone it would be Rashad because I like the way he bounces around in a fight and fast jerky movements. I think those jerky movements come from Rashad training in 52?

    I hate to say this but anytime an older knowledgeable person is speaking with "passion" and energy, they end up sounding slightly crazy. Despite the wealth of boxing knowledge he was sharing, don't lie, if he was speaking to you, you'd be smiling and nodding your head, and saying "well hey man, I really appreciate this brotha, this is some good info, you take care now," and you'd want to remove yourself from his physical presence as soon as you could to feel "safe" again.

    WACO Glider Man Id like to see a boxer fight someone like Aldo without any ground game, lets see how someone like Mayweather deals with his leg kicks. Also we don't give a fuck about your striking ability, it don't mean shit in practical situations, all that bobbing and weaving and angles don't work cause of worrying about someone going for a takedown or having a totally different positioning because you need to be able to throw kicks and check kicks, talking about weak chins when everyone knows the amount of energy you exert through grappling is more harsh than anything in boxing, it makes you tire much easier and in the end more susceptible to getting ko'd, throw in head kicks and much more varied and unpredictable attacks and you start to understand why KO's are more prevalent in MMA, you don't know shit about fighting. Keep saying that dry humping shit until you get slammed on your head and your arm broken.

    Johan Sandberg We aren't talking about all sorts of injuries. I'm being very specific just as you are being very specific about a front leg kick. Not just a broken leg, but a sore shin seeing that a person can block your leg kick. Just because your leg doesn't break doesn't mean it doesn't stop you from still trying to kick when your shin is hurting like hell. It is a fair argument.

    @johaneriksandberg

    Slimkidd730 Well you did mention Silva breaking his leg making it sound like it was something to be expected, my point was the boxing stance is worse precisely because you can't check kicks as well.

    @Slimkidd730

    Johan Sandberg Rampage had a pretty good career out of it. My point is just that the Boxing stance obviously can work in MMA. Plus isn't a guarantee the opposition will just automatically nail the front kick everytime. Add that with a parry and it can be neutralized. To each its own

    iggy082 Boxing absolutely isn’t useless against MMA fighters, in fact if you don’t have some form of Boxing experience you won’t go very far. As long as it’s supplemented with a ground based Martial Art and some takedown defence, boxing can take you very far. Take the Diaz brothers for example, they consider themselves to be primarily boxers, but they’re also BJJ black belts. You’ll rarely see them actually use their ground game to win fights however, they almost always rely on their boxing

  • @TheRedhenProductions

    @TheRedhenProductions

    iggy082 Boxers who choose to win fights by points, or who just want to avoid getting hit, utilize the clinch, which is actually technically an illegal move in boxing which the referee will break up within 2-3 seconds. Clinching is a part of MMA however, and fighters often press their opponents against the cage with an over under, or simply put them in a thai clinch to land a knockout blow. Its been a long time since UFC 1 my friend, yes a straight boxer could get murked by a BJJ expert, but lets say Tyson and Royce Gracie got it on in the octagon (weight issues aside) and Tyson knew how to defend takedowns and trips. Do you really think if the fight was kept standing that a ground based fighter stands a chance against a seasoned boxer? Especially one like Tyson who KO's people stiff with 16oz gloves, a far cry from the 4oz gloves used in mma?
