Underrated? I see so many people saying he will be a future champ and that he is currently the best fighter in the division when his best win is a close decision over Krylov... he has potential but he hasn’t fought any real elite talent yet.

Ankalaev is a nightmare matchup for Prochazka. Prochazka is a reckless striker with absolutely zero defense whatsoever, while Ankalaev is a counterpuncher with the highest striking accuracy in the division. Once Jiri comes within Magomed's punching range he's getting clipped and slept.

He is the champion of Rizina and in the last 10 years he has scored 22-1-1. So far, Anakalaev has only beaten Oezdemir on points. Ankalaev hasn't proved much yet. .
One of the best strikers I've ever seen and very humble. You can tell he has sympathy for his opponent too, highly respectable. Hope he wins the championship

JIRI has a 96% finish rate, 25 KO. Ankalaev- 53 % finish rate, 8 KO. Jiri is different beast. They are the same age.

That front kick was beautiful - you can see him time the exhale of his opponent. His opponent was mouth breathing too so that jaw was loose

It's so awesome to see the light-heavyweight division lately, it feels like a return to that time period during the final years of Pride and the next two to 3 years after UFC bought it out, where there were tons of great LHW's who were to and neck with one another. Back then you had Quinton Jackson, Wanderlei, Chuck Liddel, Vitor Belfort, Gegard Mousasi, Shogun Rua, Dan Henderson, Alistair Overeem, Little Nog, Forrest Griffin, Machida, Shad Evans, King Mo, Sokoudjou, Sobral, and Ricardo Arona, (easily the most underrated LHW of all time imo). Sadly, that era ended when many/most of those fighters started getting old and not as many young up-and-comers who were as good to take their place, that is except for Jon Jones. Who was not only as good as those greats, but even better, which lead to him absolutely dominating the division for nearly a decade and despite not facing the talent/skill comparable to that previous era, he still is the greatest LHW of all time and prolly woulda dominated even if he had been going up against a Prime Rampage, Chuck, Wandi, Shogun, and Vitor. Anthony Johnson being the only guy i'd say on Jon Jones' level in terms of skill and athletic ability, (as good as DC is, there's no way Rumble should've lost to him), and it woulda been great to see him against Jones, cuz i think he would've been a far more difficult opponent for Jones than DC was, but he lost to DC and eventually retired. Starting with Santos nearly beating Jones a few years ago, you started to see more and more fighters in the division who've caught p to Jon, combined also with the fact Jones is now the aging vet who isn't as good as he once was, not to mention he moved up to HW. There's now slew of guys at LHW who i could see potentially at some point being the champ in the coming years. Beside Glover of course, there's the forementioned monster Thiago Santos, Jan Blachowicz, Rakic, Anthony Smith, Johnny Walker, Corey Anderson (yes he's in Bellator but he's still an awesome lhw), Jiri Prochazka, Jamahal Hill, Ryan Spann, Paul Craig, Volkan, Reyes, Nikita Krylov, Yoel Romero, and of course Magomed Ankalaev. And Magomed is definitely one of the guys i think has the best shot at getting that belt if and when Glover loses it or retires, (which he's hinted at doing by the end of the year).

@@seams4186 His recent loss to Hill demonstrates that he's simply on his way out and has never been the same since the Jones fight, rather than him just being in a slump, (which is what i really hoped had been the case, me being a such a huge fan of his and all). With that all being true and him simply not being great longer, to call him bum is simply absurd! While not being close to that level since his fight with Jones and the injuries he suffered in that bout, he's still one of the top 15 or so LHW's in the world currently. If he wasn't he wouldn't have been able to nearly TKO' Glover, beat Johnny Walker, or hang with Hill for as long as he did. And if your asserting that he's not just a bum now, but has always been one - that's even more delusional! Even with his knees being fucked up early-ish in his fight with Bones Jones - he still fought Jones tougher than anyone ever has. As big of a robbery the Reyes fight was, Jones' victory over Santos was an even bigger one! He dominated Jones much of that fight. He was a phenomenal fighter up to and during that fight. He was sort of a newer version of of guys like Anthony Rumble Johnson or Quinton Jackson.
