Sean Strickland fights are not boring to me. It’s watching an art form. Looks so simple and basic to counter but he almost always wears his opponent down by walking forward, jabbing and using multiple front kicks to the body. Dude is crazy good and severely underrated for how he utilizes simple technique

People talk about Strickland always doing the same thing (which I do agree with for the most part) but we’ve seen Sean actually evolve stylistically the last ~5 fights. For example: He never used to check leg kicks, but he was also never really bothered getting his legs beat up, sorta like Max Holloway. He picked it up for the Izzy fight, because his team knew Izzy sometimes just spams leg kicks, but not necessarily so much out of fear Sean‘s legs might get compromised in the fight, but more so about the fact they wont get scored as significant strikes. He picked that skill up specifically for that fight and its now just part of his arsenal. We also saw him experimenting fighting southpaw in the first. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Sean actively southpaw in his entire career. He’s also now not only feinting with his hands but his legs as well. He’s never used this many front kicks before, but he’s had success from using them and sort of rapidly expanding his repertoire on how to implement them and heavily feinting.

round 1 and 2, paulo did nothing but throw leg kicks while sean dropped him like once or twice and outstriked him, round 3 paulo closed the striking difference gap but still got outstriked and paulo didnt do any hard ass damage sean was barely breaking a sweat, round 4 sean literally went back to slapping him around but tbf paulo did look at lot better this round and did some nice damage but i feel like sean still did more damage, round 5, paulo actually outstriked sean but then proceeded to get dropped and headkicked(mightve been blocked) easy ass 5-0 for stricland

That’s just not true at all. When Izzy started pressuring less after he became champ he got heavily criticized for it. The common narrative at the time was that he “ran” in fights, it was literally a meme.

Investigate, then fire the judge that gave the fight to Costa. On the fight itself: Strickland has to be the most predictable yet toughest to crack rival in the division, his shots and combinations are the same, his defense is basic but always adapted to what his rivals do, etc., I can’t believe that he connected Costa that much in such a calm manner, always striding forward but with alert to those kicks. “Boring” are Strickland’s fights according to some (which is fair given all his talk about going to war and yada yada) but he’s a great example of keeping disciplined, he isn’t careless and gets the job done and it honestly amuses me to see such a one-dimensional dude get away with this arsenal in an MMA setting. Secret juice man has disappointed once again, it sucks because he’s truly a great fighter, sad how he simply hasn’t shown the personality of a fighter worthy of becoming a champion, he’s wasted his opportunities so I think that he’ll eventually lose favor with his fans due to his funny antics.

When you're not athletic you better be very well fundamentally sound and that's what Strickland is. He'll fight for a long time as opposed to these attributed people that once the old age kicks in, being fundamentally sound is what they wish they should've done in their prime. With the way Sean screams about blood and war, one would think he would fight like Jon Jones or Alex Pereira knocking people out left and right 😂 But no just jabs and teep kicks boringly for 25 mins. Decision merchant. Also boasted about how great his wrestling is and can’t wait to do it in octagon after izzy fight, then proceed to NEVER use it against DDP or Costa. Trustworthy and experienced ex retired ufc fighters should be judges. And it should be the same judges for every card just like the commentators.

They will still fuck it up. Judging is not easy. Unless they judge by after watching a replay, there will always be a mistake. The referee should be the third judge.

Terrible idea. Can you imagine DC judging a fight? He'd score takedowns and control time over damage and ruin countless fighters careers because of some BS interpretation of scoring. Many fighters are also suffering from CTE, and others just ain't too bright. You need educated and impartial judges, not fighters.

Congrats to strickland, well done. I even thought Paulo would win this fight but Sean proved me wrong 😅 lol now having said all that I think Paulo needs to make some serious changes. Idk if its coaching or something mental with Paulo but Joe rogan said it best during the fight. Ever since he lost that unbeaten streak to izzy he just has not been the same fighter at all. If we got the Costa that fought Romero all those years ago I feel like this would've been a much more exciting fight with alot less backing up from Costa. Even with stricklands pressure style i think costa wouldve met him in the middle of the cage and we wouldve had a barn burner. But costa just seems so tentative now. But hey this is just all my opinion and maybe idk wtf im talking about lol But I genuinely am curious if Costa can get back to being how he once was or if this is just how it's gonna be now cause he's now lost 4 of his last 5 fights.

It's hard to hit someone who is constantly running. You're acting as if sean wasn't pushing Costa back the entire fight. The fight was boring but that's because Costa would not stop running.

Sean clearly one that 49-46. Also clearly had the most significant moments in the close rounds

Hearing that "WHAT!!!!!" from the fan in the arena after hearing Costa won 49-46 on 1 of the judges score card was felt by everyone who saw that fight either in person or via PPV.

Strickland always says " to the death" then proceeds to jab and eat leg kicks until the last 20 seconds of the fight

He checked the majority of those leg kicks (other than early R1). Costa did more damage to his own leg by the end of the fight with those checks.
