    I'm not a follower of UFC or any fight-related sports, but there is something about Holly Holm that I admire. It's not so much that she's the new champion, or that she beat Rousey, it's more about her sportsmanship and appreciation for her team. She conducted herself with class and elegance, and at the end of the fight she still checked on Rousey to see if she was okay. She comes off as a genuine person. Can't say whether or not I'll watch any of her fights, but I'd like to find out more about Holly. She has earned my respect.

    +Ariana ChaCha Holly Holm's personality is essentially the complete opposite of that of Rhonda Rousey's. They are such polar opposites that Rousey can't even begin to relate or fathom the way Holm carries herself. Ironically, that is why Rousey called Holm's personality fake, because Rousey is so different than Holm that she can't even begin to understand Holm's personality which consists of respect, humbleness, and sincerity. Ever since Ronda Rousey had gone Hollywood & became a big name celebrity, she is the one who's actually fake, not Holly.

    +jack eddwards My cousin is a big UFC fan and currently training in MMA. I live with him so I always hear about the fights and competitors. As someone that only knows the basics I was surprised by the fight but feel compelled to find out more about Holly Holm. I think it's important to not focus on the negative aspects of the fight or the competitors and instead comment on the positives. Instead of bashing Ronda I wanted to show my appreciation for her competitor and the humility she has shown. Your kitchen comment is so over used. If you're trying to come for me create some original material. Thanks mate.

    Am I the only MMA fan not really surprised by this result or outcome?? I feel like true MMA fans know that the Rousey hype was way too much (and this is coming fro ma Mcgregor fan), she only got wins by being just athletically a much better fighter than all the other women she faced, Rousey's striking improved a lot but her chin was never tested properly and I never got the feeling that she was a smart striker or a smart fighter, or she knew how to switch her gameplan when things got fustrating... the only surprise here is how much Holm improved since her last fight

You saw what a straight left from Holly would do so imagine any shot from Mayweather who by the way is a defensive boxer with excellent footwork and range. He would KO her round 1 if he fought her like a man and he doesn't get many ko's.

    like both of them. But Holly won because she's not only skilled but she is humble. Ronda was becoming above herself, talking crap above everyone in the media, and creating this "tough-girl" attitude. Maybe the fame was getting to her head. But here's a little piece of advice Ronda, Talk shit, get hit. Maybe now this experience will humble her ass up.

    +JohnnyRotten Ronda's not a great fighter though. Seriously, look at her fights. Mostly against opponents that are undersized, undertalented, inexperienced, or too emotional. Some are even soccer moms and dog groomers. Those boxers you mentioned had the great skill set leading into the fight in which they lost, so naturally they did not become humble. Ali was not utterly demolished like Ronda was. Neither was Foreman. Heck not even Tyson. Even Jose Aldo said Ronda's attitude and ego are bad and too big to come back into the UFC as long as Holly is at the top. So, yes, if Ronda does come back, she will be changed in some ways. She might still talk smack and stuff just to get the hype back up, but you can be damn sure she won't be the same exact woman she was prior to her fight with Holm.

    +Vula Judo Having more than one marketable fighter in a division is always good for the sport. If Ronda went to Hollywood having never had any challenge the division is dead when she leaves. Now it can function. I also think there are woman in the division that can challenge the Holm skill set, but would not be able to fight Rousey. The poor Hollywood execs using her in a movie as probably the unbeatable phenom are crying a bit now. Rousey is a fine looking woman, but she does not ooze charisma or look like a beauty queen. Unless she has acting chops she will probably not make it in the movies.

  • @tyronhanberry3024
    @tyronhanberry30248 жыл бұрын

    Ronda knew her fighting style and she knew what Holm had done in the past, but you cannot prepare in 6 months for someone who has honed those skills for 16 years. That was the advantage Rhonda has had in all her fights. She always fought wrestlers focused on arm bar defence but never strikers / kick boxers with takedown defence, great foot work and master strategist / trainers in her corner. She never had to face a master practitioner of the sweet science and human kinematics. I have stated in the past Rhonda has many gaps in her game. Her style (judo) requires a very firm base. Take away her ability to gain her base through leg kicks and angular motion and she loses the ability to utilize her greatest weapon Judo ( easier said than done). There will be many conspiracy theories about this fight. But you have to realize that the UFC is in total disarray. They chose Holm to bring legitimacy to the argument that Rhonda is the greatest fighter ever. They assumed that Holm was a one dimensional boxer but we're shocked at the reality which was that Ronda was a one dimensional fighter. That is not a jab on Ronda it's just reality. She is a judo expert turned MMA fighter. 25 years of regimen is hard to shake. The UFC lost hundreds of millions on this thus don't be surprised about the creation of scandal to build up the rematch, it's called damage control. It is ironic though, I actually find it refreshing that the loud brash in your face and overtly rude WWE style version of the woman fighter role "Rowdy" Rhonda Rowsey was made to play for profit has been defeated by the married, family focused, God fearing preachers daughter Holly Holm. It proves that a woman doesn't have to lose her ability to be a lady in order to be a world class fighter. Congratulations to Holly Holm and my prayers to Ronda Rowsy hoping she recovers quickly and returns as a better version of herself.

I cannot wait to see how mma as a whole responds to such a magnificent display of pugilism and overall mms prowess. What Holly did is easily theorized but is very difficult to accomplish consistently. Everything she did was textbook . You have to have a master strategist and a completely unquestioning pupil to accomplish what we observed at UFC 193.

    Came back to reminisce. What a night this was. I remember just watching that ko over and over again, I had bought in to the RR hype, but after that result I looked at the sport from a non bias stand point. I still have my favorite. But you can’t deny times like these.

    Holly is truly a gift to MMA, to the UFC and to sports in general. Y'all are going to see her blow up over the next six months and at 34-years-old with 40-some-odd professional fights under her belt, she's going to handle everything we throw at her with grace and confidence. She's adored by everyone in her life. The perfect foil to Ronda's "Bad Reputation". And FWIW ... behind every amazing woman you will often find a bunch pretty great men. Congrats to everyone at JacksonWink ... Greg, Mike, Brandon, Izzy, Holly's Dad, brothers and her hubby, her manager, the trainers and training partners :)

    Honor, class and humility has been brought to the UFC's Women's Batamweight Belt for the first time. Nobody deserved a beat down like that more than Rousey. Thank you Holly.

    So who is the most dominant athlete now? Boxing champ, kickboxing champ and MMA champ. Sorry Ronda, you are a good fighter, but the hype train just got derailed..

    1111111111202 I would say Megumi Fujii Is way ahead Holly as MMA GOAT.. But If holly keeps winning like 10 fights, she might pass her.. But it is true, Ronda was never the GOAT..

    You know what amazes me? Holly still hugged Ronda and she probably told her some uplifting encouragements despite Ronda's animosity. Truly, Holly, you are an amazing woman with a heart of a dandelion. I hope that little girls nowadays, and even that not-so-little girls will see her as truly a great example of a woman in all aspects of life. I remember watching interviews and reading comments online when people doubted her and belittling Holly because everyone expects Ronda to win. I also remember believing in Holly despite the doubts. I feel victorious and accomplished by just believing in her. Amazing fight, Holly!

    That was real class when Holly walked over to Ronda, hugged her and she hugged back, then said some words to try and console her. She commanded respect with how she carried herself after the fight.
