I think everyone is missing the point of his movement exercises. They are meant to allow for a freedom of movement (without restriction), which will allow Conor to flow better with not just his footwork, but his entire bodily elusiveness. Those of you who have studied martial arts through mental consideration and practice will understand what I am saying.

I been watching both fighters past fights today, one thing I realise is no one stayed in the pocket with conor they just back up which makes it easy for him to use his range and lengthy strikes but when they did push forward conor was open for counter and misses alot. with that being said I watched Aldo vs mendes one thing that Aldo was comfortable with is striking in the pocket doesn't back straight up so I think that's a big key for this fight. anyone who backs up against conor will have a disadvantage I think Aldo smart enough to know that

+REXZBEAT75 actually conor is best in the pocket, he's weakest in the middle. Range + kicks let's him control the outside, but his boxing is his bread and butter he dominates the inside. If Aldo decided to move forward it's not necessarily a good idea, Conor can fight moving backwards well(see his fights against ivan buchinger and marcus brimage) and since he has a longer reach aldo will have to constantly over-extend to land shots on a retreating mcgregor which will actually leave him slightly more open to a counter.

There's Jose and then there's the rest, Conor is the second best of the rest behind Frankie. He wont be able to take Aldo's speed and crisp striking technique and as for the grappling well lol. Leg kicks are what ppl who don't know shit point out because they cant see the intricacies unfolding. Jose is a more cerebral and mentally composed fighter than pretty much anyone in the ufc, including Conor. Cardio has been a weakness but Conor's never been past three so they'll be pretty even in that regard if it goes deep. If Jose fought Siver, Brandao, Brimage he would've finished them all too but if Conor fought the comp Aldo has he would've lost not won decisions.

Trust me. Ido isn't trying to teach him how to fight or replace his coaches. Conor is merely expanding his vocabulary when it comes to movement. Just how he likes capoeira or certain aspects of taekwondo, you must be open minded. You can not be singular in your approach as he would put it. And that is why Conor will win. Look up Ido Portal on YT, he's amazing.

+MMA MMA I think the aspect of balance is more helpful in Conors movement because it is unorthodox and resembles the kinds of imbalances you might see in the octagon, because of you willll have to be off balance from kicks and take downs all other kinds of stuff. Soccer is good for balance as well, but I think more so for balancing while running and juking around opponents. Though in soccer you kind of have to react quickly to your opponent to run past them and be explosive as well. IDK, both have their pros and cons.

These "training sessions" with Ido Portal will haunt McGregor when he loses to Aldo.
