As a former mma judge I had round 2 scored 10-8 for McGregor because of the 2 knockdowns... That being said McGregor won round 1,2,4 Diaz won 3,5. Also as a judge I always asked who I would rather be at the end of the fight. Diaz had much more visible damage, also Diaz punches were thrown to score points and had zero force on them. Good fight, McGregor won

Unfortunately, you are a testament to what is wrong with MMA judging. A 10-8 round presupposes dominance of the entire round. The knockdowns were there but Diaz popped right back up. Conor was getting worked for the final 30 seconds of round two. It was a clear 10-9 round for Conor, but certainly not a 10-8.

yea you can say that round 2 was 10 -9 Mcgregor and there'd be some strength behind it. But honestly, If you give Diaz a 9 in round 2 then you have to give a 9 to McGregor in round 3 he was landing on Diaz very cleanly and doing arguably as much damage as Diaz despite panting. I really feel like without audio it's a clearer Mcgregor win but with Joe and everyone harping on McGregor's exhaustion you kind of forget he's still landing cleanly even if nate wins the round on sheer cage control and volume of less clean shots. Then you have round 4 which you really have to give McGregor as a 10-9 round so going into round 5 it's either 39 - 37 McGregor up or even possibly 39 -36 McGregor if you score around 1 or 2 as a 10 - 8. So really in order to win the fight or get a draw, Diaz needed a 10 - 8 round and although he got the takedown it was more or less equal until that point. Despite the fatigue, Diaz just didn't do enough in round 5 or 3 to make them both 10-8 rounds and those are the only rounds you can really give to Diaz under any real judging criteria so unless you can watch this fight and say that round 3 was 10-8 diaz which is a tough sell with connors cleans shots and then say that round 5 was a 10 - 8 which is a super tough sell then the either tie or Mcgregor wins. Connor won 3 rounds 1 was most likely a 10-8 and Diaz had 2 10 -9's the fights gotta go to Connor.

He has huge muscle mass for his frame. The more the muscle, especially the leg muscles, the more oxygen you need, the more weight you carry. Along with that, in many ways he tries to throw everything in his shots, similar to what Gaethje used to do before his 2 losses. McGregor may not be the G.O.A.T, but he's a stud for sure for bravely taking on difficult match-ups

That round was not a 10-8 round, yea he got dropped once in that round but he was swinging at McGregor and fighting back. Conor won that round, but not no 10-8 win. Whoopity Doo lets be honest here, you're a diaz fan , im a mcgregor fan. diaz fans love to focus on that ten seconds in the 3rd or 4th round where conor turned his back to diaz and pussy footed around nate. (conor will never admit it , but at that point he was gassed as fuck) its an exaggeration to say he ran for the whole fight. you really think fight experts would call this fight of the year if the winner just played touch and go? it was an absolute dog fight but conor came out clearly on top.

If he would've knocked him out in the 2nd round like he said he was going to then we wouldn't have to go back and forth about rounds, strikes, knockdowns and so on. All this statistic talk surrounding this fight makes me want to rewatch their first encounter just to make sure Nate won.

    1. Conor was 1,2,4 and Nate was 3,5 2. Conor knocked Nate down 3 times, defended all takedowns except last 20 sec one, got lots of leg kicks in, bloodied up Nates face again... 3. If Conor "ran" in that fight...then so did Gus in the Jones fight..but no-one says that about Gus, funny that... 4. Having a neanderthal thick skull is not a skill, Homer Simpson has the same "skill" 5. This was full camp Nate, so if Nate was truly the superior fighter he would have demolished Conor, no? In reality, it was Conor's "devil may care" attitude: him accepting Nate on short notice and never training for specific fighters that led to the first loss. No other fighter does that. Jon Jones ducked Chael because it was short notice FFS, it was only after he was shamed into it by virtue of Conor being so popular did he accept fighting Ovince Saint Preux after DC was out...and he was acting all badass for doing it too... And lastly but not leastly: 6. Cry some more, butthurt brigade....

Diaz may've been dropped but he was clearly exaggerating the extent to which he was hurt so as to lure Conor to the ground. Conor was smart. Diaz might be able to eat a baseball bat to the head, he has an ungodly ability to absorb punishment. If Conor blew his wad in a flurry - like in the first fight - he would've lost again. Props to Conor for putting his ego aside and getting the job done.

Look, those are the stats for significant strikes RD1; Conor 36 Nate 23 RD2; Conor 39 Nate 36 RD3; Conor 24 Nate 58 RD4; Conor 39 Nate 32 RD5; Conor 23 Nate 29 so, round 1 clearly to Conor, round 2 was close, that flurry of punches at the end was good but it was not enough to come back from being knocked down twice and outstruck by a slight bit. round 3 was cleary Nates, 10-8 no questions there. Fourth round Conor came back, again outstruck Nate and his head movement was on point. Round five was Nates too, but only by a slight bit. he got that takedown in the end, but most of it was on the cage with neither fighter really pulling ahead. Huge respect to both fighters, Nate is an absolute machine, he can go on forever. We should be thankful that we got to witness one of the best fights in UFC history, both showing absolute class and heart. But the decision could go either way, but i had Conor winning it.

One knockdown was legit. One was a slip on the wet floor. The last one near the cage wall was a solid hit but you clearly see Nate drop to the ground on purpose to recover because he couldnt back off to do so. Dropping down to rest or recover from getting dazed is a very solid tactic in this fight because there was no way on Earth Conor was going to the ground with Nate. After that, conor got gassed and got hurt from end of 2 on and every time he needed to rest he ran away. In pretty much every other professional fighting organization he would have been penalized by the ref. In fact... one judge deducted a point from him in round 3 for running away.

  • @longtutjenkins

Tissa Senaratne People don't know how to get better endurance or durability. That shit is really hard to replicate. Conor with his style of fighting almost faded again in the second round. He did less throws than before but was able to hold on longer. He is unable to keep up the same volume for longer than 2 or 3 rounds for some reason. I would like nate better if he was not just an endurance and cardio king. Those are attributes that people never can recreate. I am not dogging Diaz at all, he destroyed some fighters i thought to be great with his skill sets but those skill sets are the basic bare-boned stand and throw with them until they cant throw anymore. He knows when his opponents start to gas and starts to think his beaten them when cardio did that. He starts to throw middle fingers in the middle of the fight as if his the man when he did absolutely jack. I hated that from him before and i kinda still do to be honest. But im sure in any given day, he can stomp the shit out of me with those basic skill sets.

Love this guy.So glad you won Conor , i though you KO Nate in Round 3 but i understand you can't risk to lose and atack him on the ground when you hit him 3 times to the ground.People still think Conor can't fight. He is really a good fighter

This is awesome. Im from Modesto 209 so you know who I was goin for lol But Conor fuckin overcame nate and the third fight will complete their competition against one another since they're tied now. Expect the next fight to go either way because at this point they both know their opponent well.

After Conor's loss I really hoped that he would've learned from it and come back a smarter, better and maybe a little more down to earth fighter. His arrogance was badly getting to him before his loss. Seems like my hopes came true, Conor's learned and come back better than ever, he seems much realer and much calmer and looks like he has a lot of respect for his opponent this time round.

Michael shuffler Yeah I don't mean pre-fight arrogance and trash-talk. That's all to psyche out your opponent and gain more money from the fight. What I mean was how humble he seemed post-fight. He had a lot more respect for Nate Diaz than I've seen him have for the likes of Jose Aldo or Dustin Poirier. He seems much more down to earth.

  • @mynameisrits

I honestly dont see Jose winning the rematch especially after watching what Conor did to Nate jeez, beat aldo again and then fight for the 155 belt then fight Holloway again for 145

Superb fighter, still bite off more than he can chew. He is not invincible. He played smart like all of Mayweathers boxing fights, that now has him undefeated. Except, in this sport it's looked down upon; instinct just wants to take over and tear one another apart until one drops. Kudos to both, I'm excited to see Conors next top match challenger.

Mcgregor is afraid to rematch Aldo.. Crooked judges gave him the win against Diaz so they can carry on the trilogy. It's all about the money. Diaz won that shit!.. Mcgregor ran away.. Should've been pointed.

He wasn't afraid of him the first time around, he beat him in just 13 seconds, so why would he be afraid of him now? Especially after this 170 challenge which has made Conor even stronger both physically and mentally, as well as in terms of skill. The only thing that he probably fears is the weight cut ahead of him. PS: The fight was not rigged. His victory is justifiable.

I wanted Diaz. But who was impressed that McGregor got that sudden rush when he was clearly exhausted, and landed more great shots towards the end? I also realized from the beginning that McGregor's speed KILLS against Diaz. Especially because Diaz can't seem to avoid a lot of his punches. And it also did not seem like Diaz was fighting as well as the last fight. I am interested to see if Diaz can close a gap at 155, as far as the speed. At least enough to better land and avoid shots. It was an exciting fight. I would have enjoyed the fight more, ironically, if I was not a fan of either, as I would have just watched a hell of an exciting fight. Instead I was adrenaline rushed and nervous for Diaz lol. Hats off to McGregor. I don't have to like his personality to see he's a great fighter.
