The problem with that is Izzy is a precision striker. One precise check hook to the chin and Costa will sleep. You can’t condition your chin for that. There’s a reason Yoel was tentative against Izzy.

I love costa but I watched that Hall fight, the man is there to be hit. Considering that Israel is a far better striker than Uriah and costa would have to catch him clean. This is gonna be a beautiful fight style wise. Adesanya has a chin, but Costa is a monster. Costa throws bombs from hell, but no one in the UFC reads strikes better than Izzy. Paulo has a relatively weak chin but Izzy would have to stand in front of a freight train then move out the way at the last second to catch him. Precision + fight IQ = I told you so

Agreed. Israel is as technical a striker as we have seen in mma. Look at the Silva fight. Yes it’s an old spider but it’s still Anderson. Israel out struck the most creative striker maybe ever. Monsters who come forward and throw bombs aren’t likely to land near as many shots as the technician will. That being said, if one is a counter striker and one is that powerful, anything can happen. That’s the beauty of mma! Can’t wait (Bart Scott reference)

rafael marques I def agree the Silva fight wasn’t a super fight in terms of usual visible action. The subtle things both men did and do are so high level they don’t show up in statistics. They’re jockeying for footwork and reads like chess players. Costa just comes and smashes the chessboard. It’s gonna be a great one for any fight fan

Ran from who? Romero? I wouldn’t call it running from him when he is the one that wanted that fight. Dana didn’t want it. He had a plan for Romero’s explosive power but the guy as the challenger came to the octagon to make the champion attack him... that shit was about as stupid as a game plan gets tbh if you are going to lose, at least go down swinging. You had a last attempt at a title shot and you fucking blew it. Now, if you aren’t talking about that then idk what are you talking about. Was it a horrible fight? Yes, I was there live and everyone dipped after the 3rd round lol specially when comparing it to the masterpiece that was Zhang vs Joanna. With that said, all great fighters have stinkers.
