He was actually ready to get knocked out in the 4th round itself when yan clipped him while being backed up against the cage by sterling. What made me furious was how the commentators (specifically cormier and rogan) immediately pinned yan as the bad guy. These people are fighters, and all they want to do is fight professionally, they would never wish anything bad upon their rivals let alone their opponents.

As soon as Aljo lift up his arms Yan threw his knee. That very important detail got missed in translation his manager did a piss poor job in translating.

Was I the only one who thought Sterling won the first 2 rounds and the 3rd was super close. Sterling out struck in rounds 1 and 2 and Yans takedowns hold no weight because he doesn't go down with him. And Sterling only landed 1 less strikes than Yan in the 3rd and was only 6 behind in the 4th before the knee.

Spur of the moment mistake. It happens, even to world class athletes. Yan is taking the L like a champ. He knows he can get it back. Don't blame Aljo for taking the W on a DQ. Wouldn't be fair to continue after taking ANY damage from an illegal strike. Those are the rules. Ref shouldn't force fighters to make that call and should just enforce it themselves.

Commentators claiming that it was obviously an intentional foul and not even considering the possibility that it might not have been, despite the fact that 1., yan doesn’t speak English, 2., the rules for what constitutes a grounded opponent varies from state to state, 3., the ref said that he was grounded while aljo’s hand was on the ground and yan didn’t knee him until aljo lifted his hand so he probably thought conditions had changed, 4., yan was winning the fight up to that point and would have had no reason to foul himself intentionally

No it makes sense. It wasn't an accident which would make it an unintentional dq and the belt vacant. It was intentional and against the rules, if a move is illegal and intentional or the fighter misses championship weight then the fighter doesn't get the belt

Agree its BS but dont think he was acting. Concussions can be like that. Head cloudy, legs gone, dizzy....then after 1hr youre good to go. At least from my experience. So it makes sense he was cleared. They dont show on CT or MRI typically
