Any fighter with a jab can beat Gilbert. Not that Masvidal has a noteworthy jab, just saying that Gilbert is very beatable & lesser fighters than Masvidal have beaten him, Hooker for one. If Masvidal doesnt land some of that Street JEsus Resurrection violence on him early n outright get him outa there, hes gonna have to establish himself early in the fight, land something big, let Gilbert kno n then stay in front Roberto Duran style. Masvidal has it in his locker, if hes added an effective jab to it, then so much the better but if everything goes according to previous form by both fighters, Masvidal very well may have Gilberts number & we could be looking at a Roberto Duran vs Davy Moore scenario, when they said he was done, Duran came out n turned the world upside down, just like he done to Barkley a few years later. I dunno who you think Gilbert is, he still has it all to prove inside the top 5.

Brother if the same fighter that fought khamzat chimaev shows up, masvidal is indeed toast. The hooker fight was at 155 which Gilbert had to lose and arm and leg to make that weight. Welterweight Gilbert is a problem and especially right now when he’s overflowing with confidence. The betting lines is way off in favor of Gilbert but I’m sure he does get it done. More paths to victory than masvidals one path. Nevertheless, will be a banger of a fight from a fans perspective

My keys to victory for each : For Izzy -> get on the offensive early because Alex is a slow starter -> invest in one-two combos -> when Alex adjusts, mix some TDs to disrupt him -> add some grappling against the cage to fatigue him -> when Alex is tired, press the offensive with the one-two combos but add one or two extra punch to the combo -> might catch Alex. Alex is always very hook-focused and Izzy knows it. He could really surprise Izzy by throwing more long straights, considering both that Alex has already a MONSTER jab that was very effective last time and that he also has a MONSTER reach. -> disrupt and frustrate Izzy early with feints, stiff jabs and leg kicks, then start to follow the jab up with straight rights and when Izzy start to adjust -> start throwing the hooks. I would really avoid trying to TD izzy, Alex is at his best when fresh and quick on the feet. And I see Izzy investing tons on his defense on the feet and for that he knows he can't risk his cardio. I see Izzy winning a relatively close victory, all on the feet, being quick and catching Alex with straights while moving a lot. I see Alex loosing mainly because he'll want to press Izzy against the cage and throw finishing hook like in the last fight too much, tiring himself out and being a step behind most of the fight.
