The only issue I take with the rule set is the short timing of the warnings. You gotta give them time to work, otherwise mistakes will be made that costs someone a match.

The ref for the women's match was like the mentality of a "Just Bleed" bro. Maybe he would be better off working Power Slap events, as mindless "action" seems to be what he craves.

Honestly, what an embarrassment. Way overzealous with the calls and basically threatening stalling calls every 10 seconds. That negative for Andy varela was completely ridiculous. How can you lose points in the segment of the match that you can’t SCORE points? Should be no passivity calls in the non-scoring segment

The problem with this ruleset is systematic. In grappling, points are distributed in relation to how well a position allows you to (theoretically) strike your opponent. That's why a mount gives you more points than knee on belly. Hence, the bottom player has the responsibility to get out of his position. The pressure - and hence the penalty for inaction - must be put on the bottom player. It is contradictory to penalize the top player for inaction. It doesn't make any sense.

The longer I train the less and less I care for rules and points for any competition. Of course, I train for the on the street real situation, not just to win a plastic trophy or status from others that chase points or plastic. These grappling games are exactly what I am talking about. Just play about to not lose instead of to win. But I still enjoy watching a little of it from time to time.

They need to wear different color shirts.. Couldnt see how Varela did that toss!

Had to dislike due to the stall calls being so frequent. This isn’t an aimless roll session in a bjj gym where you can take shots recklessly and get passed or submitted. These are pros going against each other. Passes require set up.

Calling for action after 20 secs? I don't know if the ref is bad or the rules but his voice is pretty much disturbing, what should one do in the first 30 seconds of a match? Shoot double leg right away? I'm going to hit the dislike button just for the referee you've got.
