For me, this solidifies Volk as the featherweight GOAT. Sure Aldo had a longer title run but the game has evolved so much and the competition Volk has faced is definitely on another level. Not only this but the way he has dismantled dangerous top tier opponents, often making it look easy, is truly spectacular. A legit master of his craft and a great ambassador for the sport to boot. Has lived up to his name and then some, the featherweight GOAT.

him beating Aldo doesn't really mean much ,Aldo was far out of his prime he had went through too many wars at a young age already , imo his loss to Islam does more to validate his goetzmanship then his win over Aldo... This guy is by far my favorite fighter and he is the goat of his division but he's well on his way to be the goat of the UFC! He does it all with pure excellence!

Totally agree. No shade to Aldo whatsoever but we have to adjust for “MMA inflation” so to speak. The game continues to evolve so much even year after year that there is a strong narrative to claim that Volks resume has actually surpassed Aldo’s even though his defense streak is technically a little bit shorter. He has dominated every single style in the division.

Everyone at 145 from Volks class of fighters have been destroyed. One of the most dominant champions of all time

He really is the GOAT of all active champions right now. Hopefully he can get that rematch with Islam because I think he takes it next time.

This man is on a different level entirely. Intelligent, dedicated, he knows he is class but retains perspective and humility. This post fight presser was measured, informed and full of unrehearsed humour. Not many men like this....probably just one...I will soak up the experience and look back on it when he is the most accomplished and respected hall of fighter in the UFC. Mr Volkanovski, Thank you.

Alex Volkanovski is very honourable and surely one of the Goats of the game.

Unless Volk suddenly turned 40 years old, I don't see anyone beating him. When Volk get bored, he can literally and I mean LITERALLY just out muscle them by his sheer physical strength. Ffs this is the same guy who's going muscle to muscle with Islam. Islam is like already one the strongest 155 and Volk is competing with him, there's just no way any in 145 could out muscle him. It's not that 145 are weak, Volk is just too strong. And even without his physical strength, his speed and skill in itself is cut above the rest. He's so complete.

As a massive Max Holloway fan, I wasn’t on the Volk train fora good minute, and I really do believe Max won at least one of their battles. That said, Volk has truly won me over as a fan, from the Ortega fight onward, and especially with how he beat Max in their third fight. What really clinched it for me though is listening to him speak. I love his mindset and that’s truly what sets him apart from everyone else. Imo he made Yair quit tonight and that was highly unexpected

I totally agree with Volk on commentators, media, maybe the judges making too much of a guy acknowledging a shot. It's very obvious Volk just does that because he's in a particular sort of playful flow state. He's enjoying the fight. Commentators always make too much of guys acknowledging a strike. Guaranteed, GUARANTEED every time one of the commentators will say "oh he smiled, he nodded, that's how you know it hurt him!". So stupid.

I went from disliking Volk, to absolutely loving the guy. It was tough to see him beat Max at first, but by the end of the trilogy, I knew this guy is the FW goat. He has dominated every featherweight, there is no competition left for him, except maybe Ilia. But I don’t see Ilia getting a shot already, or beating him at all. This man is the featherweight goat.
