He didn't outgrapple him though, he escaped his grappling then outstruck him. One you drop someone to the ground with heavy blows it's easy to get on top and submit them.

Damned impressive to stop Dan Henderson like that. Henderson was probably the most dangerous and toughest fighter around. In his prime Silva was unbeatable and he really is one of the all time greats. and made it look so easy!!!! Incredible

Crazy how good Anderson's chin was in his prime.

2:51 just took me back to when I would spend hours playing ufc undisputed 2009 and they would play the call of legendary moments in the menu

People forget Silva had an amazing ground game and top level striking , he mixed it up so well .

I've seen this title unification fight one too many times now and yet it has constantly reminded me of how amazingly impressive Anderson Silva is back to me then. Truly the GOAT! 👍💯👏👌

Its hard to roll/think when you're concussed as Dan clearly was. Anderson kept blasting Dan with power shots, its a wonder he didn't get a knockout from ground and pound.

Sure, Anderson's head movement was the best of his era and among the greatest if not the greatest, but moments like 1:14 really remind us just how legendary of a chin prime Silva had. He ate prime Hendo's iconic H-Bomb and a follow up left hook in the same sequence like candy and then ate another combo in the pocket at 1:21. That's as clean as Hendo's landed on anyone and not even prime Fedor could withstand Hendo's knockout power. The Spider truly is one of a kind.

IMO this was actually Anderson’s best win out of his entire career, even above his wins over Rich Franklin, Chael, Forrest and even Vitor. Some of those other ones were flashier and more shocking but this one over Hendo, a guy widely considered to be on MMA’s Mount Rushmore and a top 15-20 fighter P4P all-time, has got to be his crowning achievement when you consider who Henderson is and what he has accomplished himself in the grand scheme of things

Incredible back in the day.

@@christianmaldonado4918 Silva got to such a point of domination that he felt he couldn't be touched and got cocky and literally ruined his career. He was never the same since and the leg injury cemented his fate. It wasnt just "one of those days". Silva was on his A game, stopping Weidmans takedowns with ease and messing with him. Then he paid the ultimate price. The second fight was like night and day. Silva had no confidence and was easy to take down. Watching Silva box is just sad to see. The first time I saw him fight Chavez Jr I thought my God he looks so slow. His punches had no pop. Losing to Jake Paul is a symbolic nail in the coffin of a career which nose dived as a result of its success. Silva flew too close to the sun.

One of my favorite moments in MMA. Easily a top 3 favorite fight of mine, and the fight that really cemented Anderson's place among the Mount Rushmore of MMA champions.

Look at the cardio Silva had, after all those strikes then to grapple and submit Henderson without a pause, constant pressure.

The same holds true for most fighters of the past. Rankings didn't exist until 2013. GSP got his first UFC title shot after only 2 UFC wins. Meanwhile it took Usman 9 wins in the UFC to finally get his shot.

2008 Spyder was top notch in his prime. His fighting skills are beyond great. That's why they called him the goat. I enjoy re-watching all his old fights.

It was the way he finished opponent’s. The best to ever do it as far as I’m concerned.

I remember this moment on Undisputed ‘09 being challenging af to complete. Hendo’s KO power was insane in that game. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤣
