Anderson Silva contou a história dessa luta ontem no Podcast Flyo.. An absolute master of his art. I’m glad I had the privilege of watching his career play out.
I remember those days of Anderson in his Prime. He was untouchable.

It’s finishes like this that made Anderson Silva terrifying. He was so unpredictable.
The misdirection Anderson used is outstanding : he made Vitor check a leg kick. Brilliant.
Perfect example of why they were so cautious fighting Silva, amazing KO.
That's the best Yamasaki stoppage probably of all time !
GOAT skillset. Has some of the highest level hands, kicks, knees, elbows, footwork, head movement, timing, shot selection, fight IQ, etc. in the game. He’s the perfect create a character - a long, precision & timing based counterstriker, with top tier takedown defense, and an offensive and dangerous guard as a last walk of defense if he does get taken down. This KO is a thing of beauty. He stays patient, making reads and setting traps early. Uses his feints and movement to control/increase the pace of the fight, then finds the moment to lull Vitor to sleep for just a split second, & rips a wildcard of a front kick out of absolutely nowhere. Stays composed, follows him down, gives him 2 precise shots to the dome to finish it off. Anderson a GOAT. His legacy tarnished by the PED stuff as well as him staying too long and going on a bad losing streak. Some will say he didn’t have the greatest strength of schedule, but many didn’t in those times, and he still has name like Rich Franklin, Dan Henderson, Vitor Belfort, Chael Sonnen, Forest Griffin, etc, in his resume. After watching todays fighters, you come back and see the fluidity & finess of a guy like Anderson and it makes you wonder how things would be different had he been in his prime today. His timing, accuracy, shot selection, footwork, feints, and composure were truly something else. This knockout still stands as one of the absolute most sick knockouts of all time.

LEGENDARY KO
Seen it 100 times but goddamn is that kick fast! Even when you know it’s coming you can barely see it
My hero. The spider. Anderson Silva made me love mma and the ufc. Such a legend!
The Silva Era was something else. No other fighter has ever SEEMED as absolutely invincible and untouchable as a prime Silva. He was SEVERAL levels above everyone for like 5 years. Every one of his fights was a foregone conclusion: Silva wins, and he wins whichever way he wants.

A lot easier when u are fighting low grade fighters. This was Vitor before TRT Vitor. It's still an impressive win but besides that his good wins are 1. Yushin Okami 2. Chael Sonnen (who dominated him in first fight) 3. Thales Leites (sits on the mat) 4. Demian Maia (sits on the mat) 5. Dan Henderson 6. Josh Koscheck 7. Rich Franklin (math teacher) 8. Chris Leben (bar fighter) 9. Forrest Griffin (kind of alright)

@@jr5993That's just where the game was at that time. You cant fight dudes that dont exist lol. Silva was just waaaaaaay ahead of his time.
Victor not engaging all that time completely back fired on him LOL Silva got a good and long enough look and found that opening for the front kick. I remember this live when at the time Silva was my favorite fighter it was beyond insane in the moment

I mean. Would you strike first against prime Anderson? That's terrifying

@bennygaray46 No, but I am not a professional fighter that was skilled enough and earned a chance to fight for the Championship. Yes, he was though and I understand why he did not because even at that level Anderson was levels ahead

Silva was counter striker

@xavierb9061 Yes but he was more than that. He was a great counter striker which was even stated in this video but he was also just an all time great striker in general offensive and defensively. You are right but I don't get why you said that to my original comment? Yes he was but all I said was in all that time seeing Victor's stances, guard, movements, sizing up etc he found a great opening and opportunity and timed the front kick perfectly. It could have been a part of the game plan from watching footage coming into the fight but regardless he found the opening and timed it perfectly.

Everything Silva did was very calculated. Even when he goofed around. I don't think everyone understood that. It didn't always look pretty but there's a reason why a phenom like Belfort was very timid
Props to silva who shows great restraint in not pouncing on his incapacitated opponent and also thinks to check on him immediately after.
Wow, am I wrong or did he beautifully set that up with those two high roundhouse kicks that Vitor dodged? He got the correct read on him and went for a front kick instead, which landed squarely where Vitor was moving his head.
Parabéns para o Silva e humildade dele.
Most fighters go all in when the opponent gets rocked. Anderson has always been modest and usually doesn't even follow up when he thinks he got the ko. In this fight he lightly tagged him because it looked like he was getting up.
Crazy head movement from Silva the entire fight
INSANE AHEAD OF HIS TIME THIS WOULD BE ALWAYS LEGENDARY
Vou show está luta, Anderson Silva o melhor lutador daquela época
That was insane. You almost forget how good Silva was. That was a big bang. First there was nothing. Then, all of a sudden ...
Maior peso médio do UFC.
The "phenom" has always been my favorite. Loved when he split Marven Eastman's head in half.
That kick was so hard it made the camera glitch for a second 😂😂😂😂
Anderson is the greatest MMA fighter ever. When he was fighting and finishing guys , it wasn’t about whether he’d win or not, it was about how silly he would make his opponents look.

Complete facts. He did what no other fighters have been able to replicate. And he did it for 6+ years. I couldn't care less than he kept fighting on the twilight of his prime. Everyone faces that. But some just dip out at the right time and optically it makes it seem like they are GOATs, but Silva is and always will be THEE GOAT. He was the greatest to ever do it. Don't care what anyone else says
Silva was looking down to conceal his intent to throw that front kick to Vitor's face! It's an angle that's hard to see anything coming! Legend
That front kick was so fast and precise wow
Arguably one of the most outta nowhere KOs in UFC history, unexpected.
