Except its not entirely true. Arman just cant demand fights from anyone with him only beating a couple of ranked guys. He is like 7 - 3 in the UFC. And 2 -1 against ranked opponents in his division total. Not exactly setting the world on fire. His last fight before tonight was against an unranked opponent. Guys like Justin and Dustin have literally fought top 10 ranked opponents for YEARS. Oliveira went on a tear with multiple fight wins. And Islam, who also didnt fight many ranked guys, was beating people convincingly and also had a long fight streak going. I like Arman and I hope he gets his shot one day, but he brings little to nothing to the table. Especially if he thinks he is somehow ranked number 2 or 3 after this fight.

@@navajo237 Except what you wrote isn't entirely true either. First off, he's 7-2, one of the losses being to the champ when he was like 23, one of them being a bit of a BS decision loss. And the point is that the UFC ranking system is retarded. Chandler is still in the top 5, despite his only wins being Dan Hooker, who's barely a top 20 LW, and the corpse of Tony Ferguson. Guys like Arman or Islam have to grind forever because Chandler/Porier/Gaethje can trade wins and losses with each other and camp in the top 5. It leads to a stagnant division. If you've lost half or more of your last 5 fights and you're ranking in the top 5, you shouldn't get to refuse anyone unless they're ranked in the top 5. You should have to defend your ranking against a guy who's borderline top 10 and has looked impressive like Arman. That's how you create a healthy division. I get that guys like Dustin and Chandler are getting older and probably only want to take big money fights. Thats fine...just don't let them squat in their ranking. The ranking system in general has been a clusterfuck. The UFC was far better when there was no official ranking. Guys were way more willing to fight anyone instead of now, where as soon as someone gets in the top 10 they refuse to fight anyone unless they're ranked higher. And they aren't even fucking legit rankings; how many times has a big name got a ranking promotion after they beat an unranked guy? Shit, sometimes it doesn't even have to be a win in the same division as they're ranking in lmfao. It's all bullshit so just abolish it.
Arman made a huge statement tonight. Put him in front of a top 4 guy and if he puts him away like he did Beneil, give this man a title shot!

This win should have guaranteed Arman a title shot but with Olievera and Gaethje waiting for their turns, Arman would still need 1 fight. Also, UFC should really hear out Islam to let him fight 3x a year. Keeping the champ to fight only in Abu Dabi is a waste of Islam's legacy, he just need 1 more defense to match the 3 title defenses record for LW.

Really crafty by Arman. He sat back and lulled Beneil into his confidence, the BAM one explosion and the fights over. I’m gonna say it now. After this and the Charles fight before it: Beneil is a little sloppy. Huge props to Arman.

Holy shit this guy amazed me, as a huge Beneil fan I am gutted by the loss , the official significant strike stats are way off, not that that is relevant tho since the matter in the way Arman finished the fight and especially to who he did it, I might just be nitpicking because my favouirte lost , that aside tho. After Oliveira gets his rematch I think he is definitely the next one up for a title shot, maybe gamrot first but seeing how everyone was ducking Arman I would like to see him go for the title next after Oliveira.
Poor Beneil; taken two devastating finishes back-to-back. It might be over for him, mid 30s the chin isn't going to get stronger. Great win by Tsarukyan; just give him a title shot.

out of his 6 L's Benny lost 5 times by KO/TKO.. and a few of them like the one against Hernandez and Barbosa and Arman were brutal KO's..i don't see him winning much from now on in this crazy division..it's so weird seeing how deep and competitive lightweight is now compared to the days of RDA, showtime, cowboy, nate diaz, masvidal, eddie alvarez. (lucky for them khabib got injured and was inactive for 2 years+)the second group seems like B fighters compared to todays killers.

Initially I wanted to see Tsrukyan vs Turner since Arman has dealt with that size an opponent before in Joel Alvarez. Would be a sick next fight but doesn't make sense anymore now that Arman just broke into the top 5 and is looking at either a title shot or eliminator next. Turner will probably face Benoit St Denis next is my guess

Arman vs Islam is the most interesting fight in the division. If Charles gets the next shot, I wouldn't mind Arman vs Gathjhe or Poirier.
Arman's next fight will probably be against Dustin Poirier, this is the fight that makes the most sense for now, Charles and Justin Gaethje are ahead of Arman in the line for a title fight However, everyone would like to see a rematch between Islam and Arman, just as everyone would like to see how Islam would deal with Dustin Poier, who is one of the most notable fighters that Khabib has ever faced Everyone would like to know how Islam would deal with Khabib's former opponents so regardless of who wins, Poirier vs Arman would be a great fight and the winner would have a great narrative to fight against islam.
