Brock Lesnar Claims Title with Dominant TKO Finish | Crowning Moment 👑
Спорт
In what would be his third career UFC fight, Brock Lesnar was set to face Randy Couture for heavyweight gold in the main event of UFC 91 back in 2008. Midway through the second round, Lesnar was able to secure the victory via knockout and reign supreme over the division.

I've always thought that if Brock skipped wwe and went straight into mma training and fighting in the ufc, he would've been one of the greats. Shockingly fast, powerful, brilliant wrestling, just more development on the striking technique and he would've been even more of a monster than he already was

Brock was an amazing athlete that is for sure but he did not like to be hit and it would freeze him up. If you go back Bas Rutten said Brock could be unstoppable but he needed to train to take a few shots. He already had the wrestling skills and the killer instinct he just lacked the ability to weather a storm. But if Brock would have started in MMA with someone like Bas Rutten or Duke Rufus instead of being rich and having his training camp at his house Brock would have been even better. But yea Brock might be considered the greatest heavyweight if he would have started in MMA instead of the path he took. But he will be remembered as one of the biggest stars in MMA history and a very good heavyweight!

Indeed. UFC has been kind of dead for the last 2-3 years in my eyes. Although I watched some alright fights here and there, I have a problem recalling any of them. Very few interested me to the point where I'd actually remember them. Lost passion I guess, but it has something to do with White filling up the roster with bunch of run-of-the-mill local talent through Contender Series and similar shows, as well as introducing UFC Apex series of events in post-covid times. UFC is no longer the same organization I enjoyed 5, 10, or even 15 years ago.

Randy was 220 and Brock cut weight to make the 265 limit so he was probably 273/274. So that short shot that put Randy down was from a 275 pound man the same difference as a a middle weight hitting a bantamweight. Mario's strict instruction to Lesnar, "Keep swinging until the Angels start singing" .
Randy Couture couldn't prepare properly for this fight. He had only 10 weeks for this training camp after being away for two years from fighting. As you can see, Randy looked soft and not very muscular. Randy was supposed to prepare for this fight by having Shane Carwin as a training partner. Randy wanted to use Shane Carwin to emulate the size and strength of Brock Lesnar. However, shane was not available at that time, so Randy used big John McCarthy instead. If we had the Randy Couture version from UFC 74, then we could have seen a very different fight.
