    Watching this happen in the Apex with no crowd made it worse. Clearly hearing all those hard shots that Tony just ate made me feel a little sick while watching. I've been watching MMA for almost 15 years now and no fight has ever made me feel that way.

    Towards the end of the fight Tony's brain was buzzing you can tell, acting purely on muscle memory and courage. Justin was just sloshing his brain around and Tony would not quit regardless.

    Tony's toughness became such a massive detriment to him later in his career. He took an ungodly amount of punishment against Gaethje, then suffered ligament injuries in his next two bouts against Oliveira and Dariush. Who knows what Chandler will do to him.

    Justin's footwork and distance management is underrated. Whole fight is basically him keeping a few inches distance from Tony's jab and checking Tony's leg kicks, then when Tony steps in to close the distance, cracking him with the 2-head roll-3 or some other variation.

    Massive Gaethje fan, but seeing Tony get steam rolled like this made me actually feel bad. Especially that rocket of a jab. Tony limping away and shaking his head, that fight needed to be stopped. Not a fan of Herb, but good stop. Tony might not have survived. Sounds stupid to some people, but he took so many raw blows to the head from Justin. Dudes had a machine mindset, but he’s a human being.

    @@hiyoutube8013 true, but these guys are conditioned at receiving hard blows to the head. Their scull is a bit thicker then people who aren't used to sparring/fighting. Professional fighters who do this daily have the ability to absorb and deliver very hard blows. So when a professional hits a common keybord boy hard like gaethje pounded Ferguson. It could easily result in death.

Eddie even admitted it was bad advice and that it isn’t his normal role as a coach to be in that position at that time in the fight, but I believe b/c of COVID he had to take on more than normal.

    I prefer no crowd or a very quiet crowd. You can really hear the striking or grunting of the fighters better. Just more immersive.

    Tervor wittman was the real mvp, gaethje was swinging with everything those first 2 rounds and u can tell justin was getting tired but the corner advice of not throwing with everything made him outlast tony

    Kind of sad seeing how Tony’s career played out. People look at his recent losses and try to link that with his prime years. The Tony that fought Rda and barboza would devour this current Tony in under 2 rounds. Father Time and damage does not care about you. He was also heavily mismanaged by paradigm (conors team), so yeah, makes sense why he never sniffed that belt

    @@zanderzon Tony was with Audie attar/ paradigm for years, which obviously conflicted with their biggest name on the same roster (Conor). So they kept Tony away from Conor as long as they could, which they did successfully. This isn’t a conspiracy btw, Tony left them in 2019 and signed with Ballengee Group, who have guys like Colby, Eddie Alvarez on their roster.

    Footwork and distance management as well. Not flashy but he's making small adjustment steps so he's almost always at the distance he wants to be at. Tony throws, he's almost always just out range and Tony's catching his arms. He's in range when he wants to throw, he's angling out instead of going back in a straight line. Very different from the Gaethje who debuted in the UFC with no losses.

    @@everydaffodil5344 Tony was 36 almost turning 37 in this fight. He's 38 now almost 39. LW prime is 32. In Tony's prime, he'd have still been at the top. He outlasts Oliveira, submits Gaethje, loses to Makhachev and Khabib for sure, finishes Conor late, can't tell what would happen against Dustin. Either Dustin by Dec or Tony by Sub. Point is, Tony just got unlucky with his run.

    The music over the top kinda takes away from the brutality of this fight. Watching it in an empty arena, with nothing to soften those blows was unreal. I've never winced so much just watching a fight.

    I'm pretty convinced Ferguson was running on willpower by the time the 4th round came. Gaethje's raw power when swinging just feels like something you can't teach. Luckily, he has one of the best striking coaches in MMA to refine his technique.

    I remember seeing this live.. I was so hyped man, I saw tony start off slow but then he catches him with that uppercut! Was screaming and wishing Tony had another minute. But I truly had a hard time watching tony take this punishment. When he got caught with the fight ending jab we have never seen anyone react the way he did. So much punishment and still has heart of a champion! Real fans love tony. You casuals missed his run man honestly...

    Almost no opponents that fought him came out without any damage, Justin Gaethje likes to brutalize his opponents! The only one who managed to get through him and still look fresh was Khabib, who put him to sleep! And there are ppl who still have the nerve to say that he only fought with nobody's! 🤦
