Big Blanchfield fan but I get nervous the hype around her is starting to exceed her actual abilities. Great ground game, cardio, and especially fight IQ. But she still has a weakness in her striking offense and especially defense. She's somehow only 24 so she hasn't even hit her prime, but I do think Manon will be the biggest test for her since she's so big and not easy to take down.

The problem is that Blanchfield typically goes for body lock takedowns instead of grabbing the legs. That’s not going to work against a taller girl with a strong clinch game. Blanchfield is really good, but this is a bad matchup for her.

@@kavinraj4689 I understand that but at the same time that doesn’t mean that Jessica shouldn’t at least attempt to win the fight. She had a few chances in that exchange where she could’ve actually won like if she would’ve had hurt Blanchfield in a way that rocked her she could’ve won but Erin was composed. She took her heavy shots and was just using her reach to back her up and making her pull away and hit her with good shots. So short notice fights yeah they don’t mean it like a fighter was at their best but in my own opinion, that doesn’t excuse you from not wanting to go in there and still win at the end of the day Jessica knew that taking this fight on short notice would put her a bit of a disadvantage, but she still went in there, determined to win regardless, but she didn’t so that’s on her for taking the fight instead of just waiting it out.

Watching this made me more confident in Fiorot

Commentary was a little biased. Erin was technically winning the exchanges but she was eating some huge shots along the way. She’s extremely dominant on the ground but I could only imagine what someone like Grasso could do to her on the feet. She would get lit up. She punches from her shoulders

Grasso is pretty one-note on the feet, she's just a one-two from Orthodox and Southpaw with very little variation and zero urgency to hurt her opponent, let alone knock them out. Pumping a jab in her face is all you need to do to give her problems there. Plus her TDD only holds up if you're only going to wrestle her, if you mix it up she's going to get taken down consistently. Blanchfield might be a tougher fight for Grasso than Shev simply because Blanchfield is more relentless, won't make amateur mistakes like head & arm throws and Grasso has no sense of urgency when you give her no openings.

I was surprised Erin passed the Andrade test with such flying colors. She also took this fight on short notice (in a main event, no less). I'm curious to see if Erin can become the youngest female champion in the promotion (the current record holder is Rose Namajunas, having earned it at 25). But there are other super-talented prospects in this division (like Natalia Silva and Karine Silva) who should make things interesting when they crack the top 5.

Unlike Andrade, Rose is a sniper with elite grappling and BJJ skills. Andrade is a Heavy hitter, probably the hardest puncher in woman mma with Cyborg and Nũnes but have terrible accuracy and defense. I think Rose vs Erin could be a very interresting match up.

Andrade's defensive strategy: ima use my face as a punching bag.

I like Jessica but straight punches beat wingng punches , she fights like Wanderlie Silva just storming with wide shots . Straight punches + foot work / angle off + some reach from apponent and she struggles if the apponent doesnt freeze after a big punch and let her T off . Erin looked much slower and less zip on her punches but physics never changes and a straight punch gets there quicker and just based on her size and decent punch teqnique Jessica felt those punches , pushed her head back a bit , didnt have the impact one of her hard shots does but as the women get better and better you cant just swarm everybody and expect them to freeze or buckle when they feel the power. Especially when your whiffing so many punches as they back out on an angle . Sorry to say cuz I like her and I feel AWFUL that she had been abused and ripped off losing her finances she had to LITERRALLY FIGHT FOR to scum people . But she needs to evolve and keep up to reach upper eschelon and get some pay days . Good on Erin for staying calm after eating big shots right off the bell and sticking to fundamentals and putting it on Jessica and frustrating her and bouncing her head around a bit till she got the take down and sub . I worry too for Jessica based on her neck , look how forward her head is in front of her shoulders and rounded her back is from fighting stance . May be useful for fighting but you can see she changed her spine / lneck shape with head hanging over and neck pointing forward . Some people naturally do this . Dont walk head up and shoulders straight and end up stuck like that . Theres a reason to stand srtaight , shoulders back and HEAD Up . I understand asa smaller fighter she gets even smaller to explode up and out and make it harder for longer punchers to have to punch down but years of that will change your shape to where you wont enjoy it as you age and just not good to have the weight of your head always hanging off front of body . Maybe even make tucking your chin harder .
