    Rich Franklin born in 1974 Anderson Silva born in 1975 Yoel Romero born in 1977 If we think about it Yoel Romero MMA fighting generation should had been those guys. Imagine Romero against the guys mentioned above, Wanderlei, Hendo, Belfort, Rousimar, Murray and any other MW from those times

    Considering that people have much less title defenses nowadays, I appreciate it when people can actually reign for a long amount of time with several defenses(Silva, Weidman, Izzy for example) It's gonna be rare in this era to see long reigning champs

    Right. The big difference is that they only fight once or twice every single year these days much similar to the boxers of this era. And also, MMA has evolved too much, so the champions mostly wanna keep the belt as long as possible unless a champion has skills beyond the competition.

    Why would you discount the leg break win? Weidman was checking those kicks, if that accomplishes damage that’s his doing. It’s not like Silva had momentum in either fight, he was losing both and didn’t have much going.

    @@QuadLamb he had a good take down and some ground and pound but that wasnt considered dominating the fight as he was lured to play Silvas game on the second round. Heck even Sonnen was better than Weidman in takedowns and ground control. If Silva wasnt arrogant and actually respected his opponent, it would have been a different outcome. Same with the second fight. Yes he was checking the kicks, but other than the take down and some ground and pound, you couldnt really tell he was dominating the fight until leg broke. It was still 50/50 at that point
