Full Blast: Munoz & Mitrione - Mir vs Nogueira

Спорт

At UFC 140, Frank Mir became the first fighter in MMA history to submit the legendary Minotauro Nogueira. Mir looks to continue his momentum against another Brazilian and one of Big Nog's pupils, Junior dos Santos. Revisit Mir's shocking submission victory as seen through the eyes of heavyweight Matt Mitrione and middleweight contender Mark Munoz on Full Blast from FUEL TV's Ultimate Insider. Catch Mir as the main event at UFC 146: dos Santos vs Mir, Saturday May 26, live on Pay-Per-View at 10PM/7PM ET/PT.

    Not sure what's more impressive. Frank breaking Nog's arm...or Nog knowing his arm was about to surely break and basically said fuck it Im not tapping

    Problem is he tapped as his arm was being broken. No fault of Mir's at that point. You wanna wait that long to tap, it's not Frank's job to protect you from yourself.

    Honest criticism of a fighters strategy, technique, abilities, or conditioning isn’t bashing. It’s part or enjoying sports of any type. If a QB throws a horrible interception the fans complaining aren’t hating and they don’t think they’d make better QB’s...they’re just calling out the poor play. Fighting is no different.

    yeah it's one of those moments you often see in ufc where you kinda feel grimy about it, like the table's tilted. and maybe the ref (which is doubtful with herb dean and how close he was) didn't see that mir was completely limp and unresponsive. Herb was probably thinking,'well as long as he's not taking shots maybe no one will notice and i can wait until the white pony wakes up from his nap in the middle of the ring' .

  • @spiderorc7556

    @spiderorc7556

    10 жыл бұрын

    schpoingle If you want to know what it probably wasn't stopped, it was because Frank was holding onto the leg. His arm never went limp and he kept his grip. If it looks like you are doing anything remotely productive he doesn't usually stop the fight.

  • @schpoingle

    @schpoingle

    10 жыл бұрын

    if you want to know why that doesn't mean a damn thing it's because the dude was out. half witted body movements don't mean awareness. Think about how many guys wrestle the ref after the fight is over. I've seen guys keep punching while laying concussed on the canvas. I've seen guys literally take fatal shots while still standing. frank was really lucky to have been given time to wake up and recover. end of story. your hero of eternal champions is mortal after all.

  • @spiderorc7556

    @spiderorc7556

    10 жыл бұрын

    You could argue that it could have been a TKO, and I would agree with you, but to say that it was a KO and he went limp is just dumb. If he went limp, he wouldn't have been able to keep holding the leg the way he did.

  • @schpoingle

    @schpoingle

    10 жыл бұрын

    look up K.O. and T.K.O. Often the difference is how the ref decides to call it...but maybe you perceive this footage differently from me and we're going in circles. Speaking of getting KTFO....you guys watch the KJ Noons fight this week!? this fool was doing a great job wrestling in his sleep, to bad he didn't so happen to grab KJ instead of the ref. maybe it shouldn't have been stopped since he was wrestling? No. people sometimes do really silly stuff after a momentary brain reboot.

    This is what I don't like about the reffing in the sport. Frank was face down, unconscious, and took a # of unanswered shots to the head. Even though Frank had a hand on Nog's leg, he was still in real bad shape. I doubt it was any meaningful form of defense, as he wouldnt have been able to get to his feet or improve his position. I give credit to Herb Dean for his attention to the fight and giving Frank a chance to come back (he is yelling to Frank, most likely warning him he's about to stop the fight). However, if Nog wanted to argue against his loss, I would not blame him.

    "if Nog wanted to argue against his loss, I would not blame him." You are clearly suggesting that he did not lose either. Mir broke his arm.Thats it. If you think Frank did not intelligently defend himself, then you must not know much about mma. When you are hurt and someone tries to pound your face in, this is what you should do. He kept his face covered and held on to the leg, so Nog could not get his back. Nothing controversial about this fight.

    Bakke clearly what? i gave credit to frank, like i gave credit to herb dean for a good job reffing. don't be ridiculous w/ your "expert" input. the refs have a little too much influence over the out come of the fight. the point is, another ref for the same exact fight could have made a different decision. if your likelihood to win a fight is influenced by something like who is reffing that particular night, something needs to be said. this is what kills me. your telling me what a person does when he gets hurt like, like its expert knowledge. you cover up, and defend yourself to get into a better position. i understand frank had his hand on nog's leg, but he was pretty much unconscious at that point. if having your face flat on the canvas is intelligent means of defense, and that's your idea of having his face covered up (his off hand was no where near his face), than I think you need a better argument.
