It’s crazy to an extent. Cro Cop always made a habit of moving and circling his lead foot inwards of his opponents power range as a southpaw which is granted, most of his opponents were smart to stay out of range of the left kick but he circled around Ganzaga 3-4 times before Ganzaga cut short and blasted the head kick, it was a fundamental mishap that Cro Cop was always open to,any just weren’t able to compete. not fighting in a ring always showed Mirko’s imperfections as a MMA fighter, the octagon wasn’t where his experience lied, it was a ring always and he never had any sparring partners for UFC or even a small octagon to train in.

Gonzaga definitely took Crocop's soul in this fight. Crocop entered this fight not taking Gonzaga seriously, expecting another Japan like can fighter, and he got himself a rough awakening.

Crocop was never the same after this fight, he was so intimidated in every fight after this one, Kongo forced his will on him in the next fight, cause Crocop fights real bad when not advancing and when he is pulling back flatfooted with no good footwork. Fans who don't really understand MMA are like> but look how he revenged his loss to Gonzaga with elbows. Boy, that was not nearly the same as this brutal soul taking headkick. After this fight like something happening to his subconscious, like he realized that he doesn't belong in the cage and in the fighting game anymore.

Love Cro Cop but this is still my favorite UFC knockout of all time.

I remember watching this in a UFC top 10 KOs it's what got me into MMA.

One of the most epic moments in UFC history

So satisfying when I watched this. Only guy in the entire room who pick GG to win.

If you've seen Mirko in Pride, this seems like smth from a parallel universe.... Up to this day I still cannot believe that happened

@@BigGol that was an epic headkick KO, but this Gonzaga KO is much more brutal and should be rated higher. Uriah struck him on the jaw, which means he could escape a brain injury, but Gonzaga's shin landed on Cro Cop's temple. That is very dangerous and almost certainly left some brain damage. And not to forget the sickening sound when the strike landed on Cro Cop.

crop cop is 33 here but looks more like 45

Remember watching this live at 11 years old with my friends & Dad & his friends! What a disgusting brutal finish! Freaking awesome!

I was about 50 yards away from the cage and in a packed arena you could hear it connect, brutal ko

Same I was 5 lol, my first fight I ever watched and this is what happened.

The Irony of this KO is so brutal. This is one of my favorite KO of all time!

The way he immediately hopped into ground and pound is scary as hell

Gonzaga went into the title fight with this highlight reel KO on his resume, but Randy still smashed him.

Heart crushing finish to this day

First I wanna say Mirco CRO COP was my favorite fighter and remember the day he was signed I told all my buddies (some agreed because they knew Mirko from Pride) "when he gets to the UFC just hand him the belt because it's only a matter of time. WELL...I also remember where I was sitting this day, I remember all my buddies surrounding the TV with me waiting for that devestating highlight Mirko would add to his collection. ........then B00M! ......I don't remember anything after that. I just know it was the only fight loss I went into shock from. All I recall is time passing, getting up and at some point just going to the kitchen and downing a few glasses of Absinthe

This knockout is only unbelievable to an extent. Cro Cop always made a habit of moving and circling his lead foot inwards of his orthodox opponents power side as a southpaw, which for him is granted, most of his opponents were smart to stay out of range of the left kick but he circled around Ganzaga 3-4 times before Ganzaga cut short and blasted the right high kick, BANG! it was a technical mishap that Cro Cop was always open to, many just weren’t able to compete with the power and precision on his kicks and punches in MMA. not fighting in a ring always showed Mirko’s imperfections as a MMA fighter though. the octagon wasn’t where his experience laid; it was always a square ring. Cro Cop for most of his UFC career never had any sparring partners to prepare him for an octagon or even a small octagon to train in which just makes it all the more self explanatory why he chose to square up instead of creating distance and bringing it back to the centre octagon against Gonzaga where Cro Cop stood half a chance regardless of the threat for takedowns; that was always a threat for Cro Cop being a striker and especially in this case with his lack of knowledge in understanding how to dig in over/under hooks to create space so he could guide and turn his hips to get his back on the fence when trying to deny takedowns.

I think this fight many people forget about when talking about biggest upsets. It may not be at the top but it has to be top 5. I consider Forrest Griffin submitting Shogun Rua one of the biggest upsets in UFC history as well but very little mention. So many upsets these days it really is hard to rank them. Nunes over Cyborg then Pena over Nunes (that wasn't beaten she gave up). Valentina's upset is coming soon.......don't know by who or when but we won't expect it.

Adding to the humiliation was the way Crocop crumbled onto his leg, just a sickening sight. Mirko never fully recovered his UFC career from this point even though he defeated Gonzaga in a rematch. In all honesty, he should have just stayed a kickboxer.
