That loss absolutely crushed Adesanya. Will take him a while to shake that one off, if ever. Strickland has an endless tank, what a performance.

Historically it’s the same issue that Pettis and Weidman had too. Surrounded by yes men and had a good run, but relying on the same tools while other contenders slowly figured them out. Weidman also had the same attitude as Izzy where every loss was a “bad night” - not a good look

He may have been more hurt than we realised but also, what got him to that point? Sean presented him a mid range target Izzy would normally have absolutely decked quickly except Sean wasn't sufficiently deterred by his feinting approach, Izzy couldn't hit him clean or back up him up and he kept coming, crowding Izzy and putting him on the fence. I think that he panicked a bit and it got him caught with that 1-2. I think he mentally unravelled after that when he realised he'd been dropped badly in the first and that he had no idea how to get his back off the fence for the rest of the fight. Credit to Sean, one of the mid-fight tweets was that Sean defended his way to a win. What a totally unusual, counter intuitive and intriguing style. Maybe not the most entertaining and it's not going to work on everyone but clearly, it's valid.

You are either accidentally or deliberately misrepresenting what Eugene said. He said they aren't making excuses about the fight camp. They did everything perfectly in that regard. That aside, he said Izzy had an off night. Eugene was actually crediting Sean by saying that the fight camp was good and all went well. He's trying to give an honest appraisal of how he feels about Izzy's capabilities versus Sean's, whilst not taking anything away from Sean.
