Marc Goddard just did a phenomenal job with the stoppage. He rushed in to stop the fight as soon as Blaydes fell to his knees, but aborted in the last split second (edit: because he saw that he was getting up again). And after he saw that Blaydes wasn't defending the follow up shots anymore, he ended it. Just shows how quickly the refs have to decide and how sharp Marc Goddard is in particular

@matthew 10805first off being a ref is rough in any sport. Goddard is usually pretty good. People don't get too hurt with him in the cage.. I, see both sides of this. If the ref makes a move at you and you see it in your peripheral you might hesitate to punch. After the first overhand knocked blaydes down, the ref made a motion and it looked like he was about to interfere but didn't. I don't see the block I just see Goddard make a move like he was about to interfere but then let blaydes try to recover. Ngannou might have seen Goddards motion and held back from throwing a game ender. I don't see Goddard blocking nothin though. Other than the premature interference

Ngannou is a murderous puncher. It's basically the exact hit and reaction that he drew from hitting Junior dos Santos. In both cases Ngannou's shot didn't land flush, but just sort of glanced by the temple of his opponent with enough force to drop them. But the most interesting and significant reaction to note is that in both cases the brains of his opponent took over immediately and went into autopilot by making them cower and cover up for safety with no interest at all to fight back. They basically quit once they felt a quarter of Ngannou's power. RIDICULOUS!!!

Ngannou was very raw when he fought Stipe, he had no wresting and no cardio, poor movement, so all Stipe had to so all Stipe had to do was wear out his gas tank and secure takedowns. Second fight Ngannou just had to learn basic takedown defence and movement. After he stuffed Stipe's first take down even Stipe knew it was a wrap, especiallly with the heavy shots he ate. Makes you wonder how much more of a beast he would be if he started mma earlier or had a background in grappling /wrestling.

@Nigalas Cage They are a great list of fights , I have many favourites. But not a lot of people thought stipe had a chance at the time due to the hype Dana and the ufc out behind Francis , and stipe was clutch as Fuck with his execution of that game plan which is easier said than done ,so that’s why it’s one of my favourites

After watching tons of fights and clips of the greatest champions in combat sports - boxing specifically, i came to the conclusion that technique is greater than power. I believe that technical hit-and-don't-get-hit flair fighters are superior to powerful punchers. That's why i told my friends that Wilder with his death touch cannot beat Fury in a hundred attempts before they ever fought, that is why i am more attracted to technical and flair fighters, and that is why for instance after watching Mayweather's performance against Marquez i declared that he will retire undefeated. However Ngannou has so much speed and guile. Gane has the attributes i believe are superior but i don't think he will go through that fight without Ngannou catching him and ending the fight.

It’s not just that ngannou has power, he also has some pretty crazy hand speed, his footwork is good enough to get him into range fast, and he honestly rarely misses. This man doesn’t just swing and pray he actually sets up his power shots

Francis was on the verge of being cut by the promotion after two disappointing performances in a row against Stipe and Lewis. Many thought he was done by this stage allowing for Curtis Blaydes to takeover. Fortunately Francis recovered mentally and we got to experience his amazing career resurgence.

Seems silly in hindsight, but remember this was just after Francis got dominated by Stipe with the experienced shell-shocking him to freeze against Lewis. There were questions regarding where he was at mentally, and many feared he would freeze up again against Blaydes. Thankfully he proved all the concerns wrong, but there was genuine concern he was never the same again after the first fight with Stipe, and I'm happy he went on a tear to avenge that humiliating loss.

Bone density is a part from hardcore training but it‘s anatomical. You can see this on the hardest punchers in boxing too. Wilder, klitschko haye. All long arms, long legs, very good power transfer from feet all the way to hand. If you look at Paulo Costa who is big and jacked too but the guy has almost zero Knockoutpower at all. He has short torso and short arms. Gets no real fast twitch power on
