BSD had a staph infection and had to take strong antibiotics. If BSD had been healthy, he would have beaten Poirier early. If BSD had been 100% fit, Poirier would have had no chance.

The staph infection certainly did play a part, but he also had subpar striking defence near the end. When he slowed down due to the infection, he could at least kept his hands up while rushing into distance. He didn't and that ended his night.
