Because Dana and the UFC screwed him. And bad luck and circumstances did too. I wish they'd just give him the title shot on principle alone because he cleary earned it a long time ago. And look at what he's done for the sport and the company, he helped bring pro sports back during the pandemic 2 years ago and just because he lost to Justin they don't want to give him the title shot he more than earned prior to that. Smh. It was basically a combination of everything and everyone: Conor not defending his belt, Tony's injury when he was supposed to fight khabib the 4th time, the pandemic hitting the 5th time, and khabib going back to Dagestan and his father dying plus Khabib not wanting to honor him with the title shot after he lost to Justin when he was supposed to be the one fighting him instead, his manager Ali , Dana and the UFC and even himself. It sucks!

@@thisguycalledharis8483 Instead, they should see UFC as it is and like Conor said, "it's only business" , Tony at the time was toe to toe with Khabib and what makes me sad we never got to see that fight and I hate Conor for that, he stalled LW division and wasted both Khabib and Tonys primes, I also think this fight should have been for the real title, not interim like Khabib vs Al Iaquinta, also 2019 Tony declined Holloway fight for yet another interim title because Khabib was out and what did the UFC did? They gave it to Dustin. UFC did Tony dirty and he is probably unluckiest fighter ever in UFC. Also I love that Khabib retired and basicly screwed Dana now from a lot of money fights, because before he was champion and really popular they fucked him too. Tony deserved to be champion and in my opinion he was, and his fight vs Pettis and Cowboy was his 2 title defences

As much as I love prime McGregor and feel like he could have taken anyone, I always feel like Ferguson was his ultimate kryptonite. Insane cardio, heart forever, a true iron chinned warrior and bizarre, ever creative combos. I think it would have been a true 50/50 on if McGregor could have knocked Tony out early (given Tony regularly got wobbled and dropped from lesser punchers) or if Tony could have weathered it like he normally does and endured to gas McGregor and take him out with his much more varied, weird moves than someone like Poirier, Khabib, Alvarez etc. would offer. The other thing is, McGregor only gasses at welterweight and even then, in the rematch (which wasn't on 11 days notice up from a lightweight championship) he looked the same as both Poirier and Hooker in their war and that was 15lbs lighter than McGregor vs Nate. Regardless, that was piss poor they didn't strip McGregor of his lightweight belt sooner and give Tony a chance to claim it. We might have even seen Ferguson vs Nurmagomedov in that parallel universe. On a side note I will never not laugh when Tony forward rolls away from Pettis only to still get hammer fisted.

@@irfanalattas10 he does but he let's his ego in the way, he could've beaten Justin in the ground game since Justin gases out quick. But he wanted to go against him in striking. If I was Tony I would be more on the defensive side, Focus on the ground game. Prime Tony used his athleticism to win the fights but now those go away when you get old. I love Tony but he needs to focus more on his defensive skills, let's get one thing, his cardio will never decrease nor durability but his will to take Punches will, he just need the right people and let his ego aside.
