You can tell he’s SO much smarter and more eloquent in his natural language. As much as I appreciate him learning English for the fans and I know it’ll get better over the years but I can’t imagine how much better he’d be able to convey the multitude of emotions flowing through him if he were speaking Czech.

To anyone who didn't notice, Jiri kind of corrected himself in the end for saying "my body" and whispered "my mind". He is a very spiritual man and I was surprised for his initial response, but there is probably a word in Czech for both body and mind, something around "wholeness". I really grew fond of him after this event.

i can't say for sure because i am not Czech but as a fellow Slav we have a word that can't really be translated but the closest translation would be "being" or like "inner being". Wouldn't be surprised if they have that in Czech too.

I was jaw dropped multiple times in this fight. I thought it was going to be over in almost every single round at one point. Still can't believe how Jiri submitted a BJJ black belt for the win with 30 seconds left. Fuckin incredible. Absolute fan of both fighters FOTY forsure right here.

@@StarekS he escaped from like 100 tough situations on the ground. I was amazed how strong Jiri is. I think it is his biggest advantage - he is incredibly strong. Its not piece of cake to get out of grapple of jiu jitsu black belt just once, not to mention 5 times.

You can tell Jiri's mentality is top tier, the guy kept getting up and defending he had literally no quit in him.Both fighters definitely made mistakes, but what a fight overall!

The way he survived some of those positions and submission attempts, that was heart right there, similar to what Volkanovski shown against Ortega. Incredible mentality, I was panicking watching him in there, you really have to be a warrior to overcome adversity like that.

No fighter ever had a perfect fight. Everyone gets hit. A fighter can only be so sharp to react to strikes coming. In fact most of the time fighters are just aware of what and when their opponents can throw something. Not really reaction time. That's why they do a lot of spacing. It's like someone throwing paper balls at you. You can't dodge everything not at close range. Impossible to be perfect.

Jiri couldn’t have won this title in any better fashion. He showed, heart, grit, determination and an insane chin. Came through a ton of adversity in one of the best fights in UFC history. Long live Jiri!

@@hellowell3743 yeah, he never fought on a stage anywhere close to as big as this. So being a little sloppy/making mistakes isnt a suprise. With all the distractions and pressure that come with a fight of this magnitude, its hard to be ready for it unless you been through it. He gained extremely valuable experience last night, and next time he will know what to expect and come in way more focused and dialed in. His hunger was the difference in the end. And thats no knock on glover, given his age and more so the fact he already got the belt(which a few years ago even he had to have had doubts he would get it), its nearly impossible for his to have that same hunger he had in his previous few fights(being he was so close to getting his first title).

He didn't say that at all. He said that he was disappointed that HE didn't set Glover up for a finish when there were opportunities to do so. He was hesitant for whatever reason. It's called 'coasting'.

This man is a true warrior. He testifies true Bushido. "Just give me little time to repair my face and my mistakes". This is scary. Scary because he is genuine. He will only get better and with this mindset.. amazing

I admire his desire to avoid a bloody fight. Sometimes you can't avoid it (especially of you're a striker), but this kind of dedication shows that Jiri is a warrior and not a beast. Also Glover was a class act in the cage and during the post match. He has nothing to be ashamed of and he actually knows it. Beautiful fight, blessings to both fighters.

He seems to be a perfectionist. So there will always be a problem with his performance in his view, but that's a mentality of greatness.

I think He is a little too hard with himself. He didn’t only beat a 42 YO old man He beat Glover Teixeira who has more than 20 years of MMA experience, He was the champion of the world, He is one of the most vicious finishers in LHW division history. He was on a five fight winning streak with brutal finishes beating young guys, top contenders. It’s the biggest achievement of his career. Now it’s just the fighter mentality of never being satisfied we understand but that was an amazing performance…

This really was a back-and-forth battle. Each fighter was in multiple dominant positions and could have ended the fight, but neither one would quit until Glover's body ran out of gas.

It was crazy. Glovers got a set of nuts on him for sure. And yeah. I think it came down to gas tanks and ultimately came down to who could take the beating better and jiri just slightly passed him there. Brutal, wild, fun fight

I really enjoy the way he takes his time to respond to the questions, he also maintains he composure in the cage. He is legitimately living the bushido code, he is a legend.

Mad respect to both Jiri and Glover for that amazing incredible nail-biting title fight, would love to see a rematch as Glover's retirement fight

How this guy conducts himself is a complete credit. He takes his time, he is mindful and conscious of his words. There is no rush. Too many guys try spit out answers to get the interviews over with. Jiri has bushido written all over him.

I totally love this guy from his first performance I seen.his display of integrity, a real gentleman of the sport at such a young age,many could learn by.

It's nice to see how Jirka doesn't care what anyone thinks of him. If he doesn't know a word, can't form a sentence, he stops, comes back, takes his time and says it again. So humble and tru warrior. And huge f respect to Texeira! He's tough badass! Proud for Jiří and our country. 🙏 🇨🇿

It was really beautiful to see two humble martial artists put it all on the line for 5 rounds for us, the amount of respect they showed for eachother shows how far this sport has come

How crazy that both Jiri and khamzat stepped up to face top contenders and faced crazy adversity and came through it. Thank god they weren’t hype jobs like we’ve seen before . Glover deserves his flowers , amazing performance. I personally think he was winning that fight prior to the submission

Well you're 110% spot on bro! All 3 judges had Tex ahead before the 5th round! It was 39-37 39-38 39-38 on all 3 judges scorecards & the only reason one of the score was 39-38 was becuz that judge gave Jiri a 10-8 round for the 3rd round if I'm not mistaken! Idk how he had it 10-8 for any of the rounds tho becuz both fighters didn't have a dominating round like that to get 10-8 so at worst is Tex gets a draw if all 3 judges gives Jiri 10-9 for the 5th round but Tex was 110% winning the 5th round before the choke! Anyone with eyes can clearly see that without a doubt Tex was super dominating & winning the 5th round💯💯💯 I won hella money on Jirr lucky submission my friend lol bcuz I had Weili Valentina & Jiri lol. Got so lucky hahaha🤣🤣🤣💯💯💯😁😁😁

i think he won at least 2 rounds before the 5th though i would agree that he was losing the 5th round up until the grappling reversal which got him into a dominant position for the choke

Yeah it being rocky should be expected. Even with how mentally tough jiri is, he never fought on a stage nearly as big nor in a fight with nearly as much at stake. And there is no preparation, for all the pressure and distractions that come with a fight like this, that can match experiencing it. He will be much more focused and dialed in next time.

@@jaseallenson316 Jiri never even saw a 4th round before in his career. To submit Glover of all people in a round after the rounds you've already never seen before is insane. Pure mental grit and killer instinct. I really wish I could thank both these men. Glover put on an insane performance too. He was ahead by a round and absolute showed championship skills, strength and experience from the very first round.

I love how he actually pauses and formulates the right answer. A lot of fighter answer questions right away. Jiri reflects than shows his authentic self in a language that isn’t his first. So impressive the real life samurai is

This guy is good... I like his style. Very humble and respectful. He can only get better. Shout out to Glover as well. What a great pair of fighters. I hope they can have a rematch.

Jiri is the type of guy to almost got KO’d by Glover and then submitted Glover.

My favourite LHW of all time, so genuine, completely individual and at one with himself. Jiri is a true martial artist, a true champion and most of all - a real man.

This fight is beyond of my Expectations well done JiRi you deserve it.

He’s insane. Jiri, for god sake, enjoy this victory. You fought incredible fight, one of the most beautiful wars I’ve seen in MMA. Glover was the champ for a reason, he’s an elite fighter with strong heart and mind. You did amazingly well, you should be only proud, why criticize yourself that much? You went through deep adversity and triumph. You showed super human mentality, skill and heart. Give credit to Glover, and be proud. For Christ sake.

His performance was incredible but i see where he is coming from. His goal is to become a perfect fighter yet a 42 year old man was able to hold his ground against him and arguably only lost that fight due to exhaustion. If Glover was just a little bit younger, would Jiri still have won that fight?

@Coming at you harder than a right f cking hook It was also way more skilled. Both men made a few mistakes, but that was in hindsight. Khamzat just fought plain dumb meanwhile. Zero head movement, all ego.

Jiri is Jiren. POWER! One of the most fun fights, probably THE most fun fight I’ve seen. This guy has been a fave of mine since last year, I love seeing him succeed and his personality shows why he’s successful. Keep GROWING, fam! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 And great job on Glovers end, what a warrior. Amazing fight. Both fighters showed so much heart. That was incredible. If Jiri means it that he will come back next fight, fix the mistakes, dominate and be the hunter in the ring... His next opponent is in a world of trouble.

That definitely was not Jiri at his best and he still won! Get some much needed rest and recovery. You are a true Warrior with a tremendous upside. A Complete refresh Fighter who doesnt trash opponent's and Resoects people. UFC should be honored to have this gentleman in the Octagon.

But that being said I think Jiri surprised a lot of people with his grappling ability obviously not as good as Glovers but he held his own and managed to beat him at his own game right at the final hurdle if you will

Been watching this sport for years. Something extremely special about jiri. Makes me so excited, I hope he holds onto the belt for a while. He's only going to improve. 29 years old. 29 wins 27 finishes or something.. It's insane.

In the czech interview he explains why hes sad. He said that his goal is to be master in fight man to man, the belt what he won is just somethink what was made by people and its just kind of "ego think". He will be happy when he will know deep inside that he made mastery fight man to man. He really dont care about some title. He is true legend for me.
