I started to train under the Franco/Behring BJJ alliance in 2009 in Canada, you can imagine my surprise when I found out Anderson's BJJ coach, Sylvio Behring, came up 2 times per year from Rio to grade us. He gave me my blue belt and purple belt before I was forced to quit due to finances

A legend, a gentleman, and a real fighter. We love you Silva

This is even more wholesome knowing that these two were pretty big rivals back in the day.

Anderson Silvas a legend, but it begs the question how legendary he'd be without the juice with those types of "mistakes" lol got Khabib/GSP as GOAT instead of JJ for that exact reason so I aint just a conor fanboy, but the dudes been a top 10 fighter all time (based on opponents/record/impact/accomplishments) and he did it being 100% clean. Conor haters are just as bad as the ones who act like he's the best to ever do it.

Nah Anderson was a guy who didnt care about his legacy he fought with his love for the sport and i respect it. I dont think fighters should be remembered for how they go out i think they should be remembered for their peak when they are chasing for the belt and when they are most hungry. BJ Penn is still one of the best in my eyes because of what he showed the world when he lived and breathed fighting, even though he went out with a very big losing streak

His fighting style was based on reflexes and reaction. Each being of milli seconds. If you watch the fights guys were missing by 3 and 4 centimeters. Then 2 and and 1. That was the results of time. Like I said the MMA GOAT is Father Time.....No one can beat him....

Impossible to not love Silva, what a legend

I always think of when he got overconfident with weidman in their first fight and got KO'd, he could have easily won that one and his legacy would be quite different - funny how history can hang on a moment. After that it was the horrible leg injury... a crazy end to his time at the top. A true legend of the game. Respect Anderson Silva.

I have mixed feelings about both fights with Weidman. I felt Anderson lost the first fight because he got caught while clowning, but this is not Weidman's fault and maybe it's possible Weidman would beat him anyway, then in the rematch he broke his own leg by checking a kick, this is not Weidmans fault either, but we never got see what would have happened. This is not to take anything away from Chris Weidman, he won both of those fights, but in some strange way, I feel we never got to see Anderson against Weidman skill for skill.
