    ***** So negative...I wouldn't say she is now shit...will she be shit if she wins 145 belt & defends 2 or 3 times? How many fights have the greats lost? Do I really need to list the hof's that have lost more than 3?

    Well, the division is getting tougher. We don't know if Rousey could still beat the top 5 right now. Remember that Rousey won because all her opponents clinched with her, while everybody knew the way to beat Rousey is to run and jab. Also, she fought fighters like Sarah McMann who never had a striking couch and Correia who five years ago was a fat accountant. Holly Holm and Shevchenko are world class athletes, and Amanda Nunes is the thoughest in the division, well rounded and vicious.

    If by pure poetry you mean a terrible effort by "Team Ronda" to chase or stay on top of a counter-puncher than yes. But it was an okay fight for Holly, she looked scared half the fight. The over-aggressive style is perfect for a counter puncher so there was nothing really spectacular about the fight overall. Just boxing 101.

    Ivan Georgiev no unfortunately. because Amanda wouldn't try and stand up with Holly. she would try and take her down and keep her there knowing that's her weakness. stand up Amanda may be more powerful but technically not even close to holly. she tried to stand up with Valentina and it almost cost her the fight.v

    It's not a big fight. A summary rundown. Been a min. since I watched. Round 1 was VERY slow. Valentina is a slow starter, so first rounds may not be her thing. And Nunes was trying to be more cautious, she throw punches and some kicks, but still a slow round. The judges gave it to Nunes. Round 2 was better, and it was ALL Nunes. It went to the mat more, and Bullet was tough as hell, because Amanda was close to submitting her she got her arm around the neck and had Bullet's back. But she hung in there and made it to round 3. It was basically a repeat of when Tate had Holly's neck in round 2 of their fight, and Holly fought it off. Round 3, Nunes was starting to get tired -that's her fade round, and she slowed down a lot. So, Bullet start to capitalize on her, but that late in the game, she needed to KO / TKO, or submit, Amanda. And it looked like she was going to get Amanda down and finish, but the round ended before that could happen. So Nunes won.

    Summary of this fight. Ronda's judo works effectively on weird, mid to low tier, grapplers with poor striking. Nunes is the most well rounded fighter in the division by far.

    Good episode but there are some things that weren't addressed. 1) Rousey has stayed with the same trainer which lied to her in between rounds one & two against Holm. He gave her zero advice, couldn't formulate a strong game plan or offer her any other advice if the original game plan wasn't effective. I feel this inability to adapt is a major talking point that was overlooked. While fighters are the ones in the cage they do fail to see things that good coaches can see. Having a poor coach who shows absolutely no IQ in regards to guiding his fighter it automatically puts her at a disadvantage. 2) Rousey also has cardio issues. She was blowing in the Tate fight which went a few rounds & she gassed really badly in the Holm fight to the point where her mouth was open and her jaw was loose and away from her leaving it far more exposed than it is in the early going of a fight. 3) Nunes has great kicks but I only saw the teep mentioned. Rousey uses very linear movements when she tries to close distance & initiate the clinch. She lacks fundamentally basic footwork, doesn't cut angles, feint her way in or jab her way in effectively. Those factors compounded make me assume it will be difficult for Rousey to initiate the clinch successfully. Nunes can float on the outside-to-mid-range & shut down any advances with well placed, quick kicks to the lead leg of Rousey. Another thing to add to that is Rousey's stance of being squatted down & having her base a little wider makes her heavy on her feet and rather static, it then leaves that lead leg open to the same kicks. Nunes can land it then keep feinting & alternating this to keep Rousey guessing to the point where she may well end up being stuck at the end of Nunes shots. 4) If that does happen then Rousey will be forced to strike with a great, well-rounded, hard-hitting striker. Aside for beating a very limited & slow Bethe, Rousey has never won a prolonged striking exchange in the centre of the cage. In fact she has been backed up many times before, often in a straight line & has eat punches when trying to evade advances. She can't afford to do that against a striker of Nunes calibre & power. 5) Rousey has stagnated/plateaued in the striking department under self-aggrandised high level striking coach Tarverdyan. What improvements are we seriously expecting to see from this year off fighting that she has had? She improved her striking minimally in her many years with Tarverdayan. Will twelve extra months even matter to someone who has shown to have very little natural striking ability from the outset? Just my observations.

    Tyson's words may ring true for Ronda. Tyson was asked about his opponent's game plan for him and dismissed it with, "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face." Ronda's plan will fall apart once she eats the first hard punch from Nunes, I fear.

  • @johncarter6406

    @johncarter6406

    You kick the lead leg of wrestler to take the speed away from them when they shoot. Ronda doesn't shoot. The clinch is bound to happen. Holm got caught in the clinch accidentally, the only reason she didn't get taken down is because Ronda wanted to win with stand up because of some stupid notion that she's one dimensional.

  • @johncarter6406

    @johncarter6406

    pulling your arm in to defend in the clinch is not really a great strategy. He shows that each time Holly tried to defend, technically, Ronda adjusted into a superior position. With Holly's arm in that position, it's virtually useless. If Ronda wanted to take it to the ground, she could have wrapped her arms around Holly, and simply dragged her to the ground as she did with Tate twice, no Judo needed. Pointing out her flaws doesn't make her one dimensional. That fact that she dropped McMann with a knee, and put Bethe and Davis to sleep also shows that she's improving her striking, with or without the help of her idiot coach. She was also showing good dirty boxing techniques against Tate up against the cage.

    My Professional anal-ysis is that Rousey's Judo was devastating against mid-tier opponents, but the skill level of the division has risen up so much that Nunes, Holm and maybe Sevchenko could beat her. All her older opponents looked clumsy and weird. but now the Bantamweights know how to strike and wrestle in a way that it looks normal. Strawweight still looks shit though.

    Rage Punk i think mickey gall is not in a good position to call out the top 10 contenders right now. He is very young and new in the UFC. Calling the big league instantly will make him look arrogant. If you look at it, he is basically just calling the well-known names in the UFC to increase his popularity. It is a pretty smart move actually and this is the fastest way to get known. If he continue to succeed, he will be the top 10 within a year, and move to championship belt like he said, within 2 years by 2018.

    Win or lose Ronda is done with the ufc. Best case scenario she wins and sticks around for another fight or 2 or she loses and just retires on the spot. Truth is Ronda has no interest in just being another ufc fighter like everyone else she just wanted to be undefeated now that she lost she's done with the ufc she'll probably go to acting

    It's not like that anymore... she's not fighting girls like Correia (who five years ago was a fat accountant) or Sarah McMann (who only had striking coaching via Skype and never had sparring with pros). Holm, Shevchenko and Nunes are all world class athletes who can follow a game plan. All her other opponents rushed her and initiated the clinch. It was painful to watch such stupidity. That's not going to happen anymore.

    The way I see this fight going, will depend on how Ronda reacts to the first good crack Nunes lands on her jaw. Her mental game seems way off since the Holm KO, so much so she went MIA for a whole year…comes back, and doesn't want to speak to anyone. That's not a good sign. If Ronda has any sort of doubt with that first punch by Nunes, she might start to panic.

    Nunes is not as disciplined as Holms, and ultimately it was that discipline and consistency that got Holms the spectacular victory over Ronda. Ronda thrives off her opponents being inconsistent, not disciplined and chaotic in there attacks.

  • @Themayseffect

    @Themayseffect

    7 жыл бұрын

    Nando R Lack of skills and aggression is what cost her those fights. Not discipline. In Holms case, her counter striking against aggressive fighters such as Rousey is what gave her the better performance. But Her last two deponents did not have the same level of aggression. Nunes has power and skills in both striking and jitsu' but not pose, speed and discipline. Holms is faster in striking and moving. Nunes is rather slow and powerful in comparison. Nunes also throws very long punches and kicks, something that does not work well against a quick fighter like Holms or Ronda. She will need to strike fast with accuracy, which is something she has not shown as of yet.

  • @daruckus85

    @daruckus85

    Themayseffect She's shown plenty of accuracy. And Holm doesnt lack skill but she has been fairly inactive in her latest fights, giving Miesha and Mallory time to score points and attack. Nunes has looked pretty fantastic in her last few fights and has shown aggressive, technical skill.

  • @Themayseffect

    @Themayseffect

    7 жыл бұрын

    Nando R Holm's does lack skill in grappling and Jiu Jitsu in comparison to her recent opponents. In that is where she effectively lost in her last fights. We've seen since the beginning of UFC that you can not simply get around Jitsu no matter how powerful or good you are in striking. I'll agree to disagree about accuracy. Yes, she has been able to hit her target with power, but she does not have the same level of accuracy you'd compare to some of the greater strikers in the sport. And the bigger point was SPEED, Nunes is not a fast fighter. Ronda is surprisingly fast on both her feet and on the mat. I'm not questioning Nunes technical skill, she has indeed had great fights, but here flaws are easier to spot than Ronda's.

    It was Ronda's reputation that lured me into the UFC audience. I though Ronda was the best - but Nunes is a very dangerous fighter. Absolutely devastating for the fighters we once saw as the best, a new league of muscle. Yet her character seems pretty humble and gentle :0

    Dan, this is your calling. Don't keep fighting. It will damage your analysis of many future bouts. You have nothing more to prove inside the ring. You never cease to amaze me with, your detailed analysis of mma. Thanks

    You guys, (Dan Hardy and John Gooden), do a great job with the analysis of the fighters. I look forward to your analysis before every major fight. I wish it was you guys asking the media questions at the UFC press conferences too. If you wanted to take on a 3rd person to add to your commentary, would you pick Ariel Hawanni, or take Dominick Cruz from Fox? You guys are all about the sport, without a drop of political activism in your blood, and I appreciate it very much. Keep up the great work.
