Exactly, i remember when Adesanya almost lost to Gastelum everyone was counting him out, like we hould never beat the likes of Romero, Whittaker or Costa. People still doesnt realize that MMA maths doesnt work and a fight can just change completely in a single moment by a single strike. If anything that was a tough match up for Khamzat cause he was afraid to use his biggest weapon against Burns which is wrestling and Gilbert is no joke as well, in papers Colby should be an easier match up for khamzat, as for Usman we don't know yet.

I think its great Kahmzat tells everybody what his coach was telling him about slowing it down and not trying to take his head off, he is so deadly and I cant wait to see him fight again!

this guy just loves to fight and bring a spectacle to the cage. I can't wait to see more fights from him, it was insane!

This was valuable cage experience for him, but he probably regrets not staying more measured and technical when Burns lured him into a brawl. There were a lot of shots he ate that would've put out lesser men.

I think Burnes was at his best last night. He is not one no 3 without reason

This fight was good for him. Both shows how hard he needs to work to be able to get through Colby and then Usman as well as giving him thee chance to show his heart and how he can hang with the best. Giving me Izzy vs Gasteleum vibes and how Izzy was tested before he went to win the belt.

Khamzat just proved that he’s one of the top dogs of the game. But this fight made me love the will of Gilbert to endure and fight back. Love him

How can he be exposed when he was ranked 11 and just beat burns the number 2 he proved he has a chin , heart and his wrestling is elite he has areas he has to work on but he has a promising future

Khamzat is reslly good on the ground but not as good as burns (which is why he didnt get on the ground as much this match), khamzat would eat colby on the ground easily

I think khazmat made me more of a fan tonight than before honestly😂. Even though it was a close fight he was willing to risk everything and trash his game plan just to get a headline knockout and feed the fans what they want. This narrative has to stop. Khamzat didnt take burns down because 1. he couldnt, he really tried and mostly failed in round 1 And 2. he quickly realised he cant roll with burns, who has a superior submission game than him. People keep making shit up to try and make up for the fact that this dude, while a legit contender, will probably never touch that belt until usman and colby retire. And we still have to see what leon is capable of.

@@xZZTop bro you to have realize this is his 4th fight in WW and first “main” event fight against the 2nd best WW in the world. He almost finished burns in the end of first round with that jab but Burns brought it back in the 2nd round. As a rational fan I see the potential in khazmat to be the best in his division,he has all the tools. But a performance like tonight won’t beat usman or Israel just yet. He will only get better and better and maybe next year he will become that level. Right now Colby and him is the match to make to see if he learned from his mistakes in this fight.

He ain't humble at all.

His problem was that he didn't listen to his coach. If he had listened, he would have thrown himself more into wrestling and controlled things after the first round. From there, he could have played Khabib style, just stayed on top of his opponent, and won at the end of round 3 just because he controlled the match, and no one would have had anything to comment on. Khamzat didn't want that, he wanted to take the whole fight standing, because he underestimated Gilbert, and wanted to prove that he's not like Khabib, and that he can stand vs such monsters without fear..

about Khamzat Chimaev coach, swedish is my first language and his coach is saying " slåss inte med han, förstår du!?" = "don't fight with him, do u understand!". khamzat said after the fight that he didn't follow their plan and wasted a lot of energy early. i think he will grow from this fight, it was a good challenge for him!

Champions are that in their minds long before. They demonstrate it when talking. Big Khamzat.

Absolutely incredible fight! Hope khamzat learns from this experience- you can tell from his demeanour and what he said that he underestimated burns and seems more relieved than excited that he got the victory

Had he not wasted most of his energy in the first round on trying to "take his head off" - to try to go through him like he did with Li and others - he would've won all 3 rounds, easily. So don't underestimate Khamzat based on this fight. He is still a very dangerous man.

Imagine how good he will be in a year!

Dude fought his heart out and casuals are salty that he didn't ran through gilbert. All he said to this point was I smash everybody(which everyone does) and people took the hype to the moon. He is a talented fighter but needs to grow slowly and gain experience.

My excitement for this guy is at an all time high

this was just a humbling fight for him, he knows what the comp is now. he took his mistakes with no ego and understood where he went wrong. hes gonna learn from this and be more technical and not have his emotions take over (like in round 2 when he was being impatient and just trying to "smash" him.)

He couldn't do his E-game but really showed his class besides lots of respect for Durinho!!!
