He wasnt even stuck. Blaydes wanted to anchor his head down, but I noticed Almeida had his hands locked the entire time on the single leg. The thing is, almeda just showed a huge flaw in Blaydes fighting style. Blaydes have no takedown defence whatsoever. Getting taking down 10 times in a single round is not a good look. If almeda was a bigger guy like Tom he would have done great damage to Blaydes. I don't see Blaydes beating Aspinall. The only person that i see beating Tom is Cyril Gane. Gane is as fast and elusive as Tom Aspinall and Gane has showed that he can defend the takedown and keep the fight standing during his last fight with Spivak. Sadly, Tom is now avoiding a fight with Gane like a plague.

Blaydes was a very tough match for Almaida no doubt and I knew that before the fight too and Blaydes won in spectacular fashion. For Almeida I still think he has lots of potential, he works very hard on his body to keep it in shape and if he could apply that same effort into working on the mma skills like the ground and pound when he has top control or into the striking when he's holding an opponent up against the cage, then he will be very dominant. If he wants to keep avoiding the standing strike game from a distance then that's fine but he has to learn how to throw some strikes while he's holding on to his opponent either on the fence or ground and that will force his opponents to open up to putting themselves into vulnerable positions for him to submit them and he has to find other ways to submit his opponents other than the rear naked choke because everyone knows that's what he's going for.

Very bold plan to come significantly underweight and outwrestle Curtis Blaydes at HW. Good luck in the rematch with Aspinall!

Happy for Curtis. The guy seems to have improved in his fight IQ, which makes him so much more dangerous. I don't understand this Division' Business, esp at the top of the pyramid. Ngannou is the real UFC lineal champ. No one knows where the Jones/Miocic storyline is going. It can't go very far though. So Blaydes, Gane and Aspinal have to fight each other at some point. All three fights are pretty exciting, so go for it

Tom aspinal is a fair callout. Jones is holding up the belt. And their last fight tom was injured. So it's unfinished business plus Tom could defend his interim belt and make jones mad.

Day of a one-dimensional puriest BJJ like Jailton dominating has long been over in mma. Jailton's ground game is exceptional but he needs to up his striking game and then he'd be a serious threat.

Actually Curtis is wrong, he hits Jailton with an uppercut right on the chin, which causes him to get rocked and changed his head position, then he got pounded by unanswered hammer fists to the side of the head. It’s pretty hard to see, but there’s slow mo shots of the sequence and its there

I 'm not an experts of UFC rules, but I believe Curtis Blaydes hit Jailton Almeida with 19 hammer fist, with 4-6 of them hitting him directly in the back of the head.
